The sandy beach was clean.
The sandy beach was clean. Good paved areas running the length of the sea-front overlook the beach and sea, with segregated lanes for bikes. A positive lack of "tackiness". Whilst we didn't venture much into the town area, the beach and sea-front give the impression of being cared for. It's also easy to walk along the front, north to St Mary's Island and the lighthouse, or south to Cullercoats and Tynemouth and their similarly well looked-after facilities.Guest review byStuart - 6.0

Whitley bay was clean ,no rubbish on streets.
Whitley bay was clean ,no rubbish on streets. Everyone was friendly. The boardwalk was busy with dog walkers,runners and cyclists. The beach is large and clean. Great place; wonderful local coastline: beaches, rocks, harbour etc. All very well kept too (well-done The Council) Parking charges reasonable. Cannot see why people rave about tatty dumps like Brighton with pebbly beaches and scruffy streets and anti-motorist stance. Everything you could need. Next door to the Nisa shop and clubhouse. Waking up to have breakfast with the sea view from the patio doors was a highlight. Dog friendly too always a bonus. Bus stops outside to Newcastle or Blyth or quick way of getting into Whitley bay etc. Very quiet and comfy beds. Lovely little walks to the lighthouse recommended. Not too far from any of the attractions to walk and with good transport to Tynemouth very close. The hotel is also very comfortable with friendly staff. The sea view rooms are awesome.
