I had 3 nights in the basic room ,loved it, it was a really nice room with a view of the river. The managers were really nice people. The hot shower was a bonus.

Arriving by boat from Rio Dulce the boat dropped me off right at their pier and departing for Punta Gorda the boat picked me up at their pier. Nice and handy to town. But what made the stay exceptional was the owner Stuart, an American that has been there for decades and knows the area extremely well. Myself only speaking English, Stuart's help with immigration & booking the boat to take me to Belize was above and beyond any place I've stayed around the world.

The best reason for staying here is the manager, Giovanni. He is a bilingual jewel. Great with arranging trips up the Rio Dulce but even more describing the history of the area.

The hotel is run by Gershon, Martha, and Ingrid. They are really friendly and help you when you need anything. They are the only locals who run a hotel there, all other hotels are run by foreigners or from the city, personally it made the experience better The food is good and portions big. The room is big and had WiFi, the beds are comfortable. The hotel is basic, but you are in the jungle. The problem with te toiletseats will be solved soon 😉 The hotel is located at the Rio dulce River and you can enjoy the sunset at the hotel or just take one of the kayaks.. When we arrived we felt like at home. All of their workers there are super nice, have a nice smile and they make everything happen that you feel super nice there. The standard of everything there is just higher than in any other hotel we have been so far in Guatemala. If it comes to the shower, bathroom, bed or any other facilities, it’s just great! Also the small details! And the best thing is really as already mentioned the staff there. This is one of the hotels where you will say in a few years, remember the „El Viajero“ in rio dulce, and you‘ll immediately remember which one it was.

Finca Tatin is a beautiful place to stay! It feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle but you’re also right next to the river. They have family dinners every night which is a good time to meet new people and the staff are soooooo nice!
