Fonyód was reasonably clean and pleasant town.
Fonyód was reasonably clean and pleasant town. In places quite smelly, some houses need a bit of love and well kept houses have wildly diverse architecture, but generally the town feels safe and offers a lot of restarurants, ferry service, some water attractions and playgrounds for kids. Be aware though, very very few people (even young) speak foreign language there. What a difference in comparison to Györ in the North of Hungary, where everyone we met in the public areas spoke either English or German on a reasonable level. People are neither unfriendly, nor friendly; I fell like they just don't care about foreign tourists and mostly avoid communication due to a language barrier.Guest review byLIBOR

The hosts were very nice and helpful, super responsive when needed. Free drinks inside the fridge and coffee, soda, ice machine in the public area. Covered pool, sauna and jacuzzi were really a plus. Everything was really clean and little cute details and decorations made it very cozy. The bed was sooo comfortable. Has aircon, TV, washing machine etc. Great location. 1km to Fonyod flat walk. Nearby is a snack-shack and a couple of lakeside restaurants about 15min walk. Pool is a bit cold but useable. The are a lot of insects around, but the windows are provided with special nets, so nothing gets inside. The view from balocny was really nice and the apt was very close to the town centre.
