I like everything, the owner is friendly, helpful if needed. It's worth the price you pay, even though the room equipment is basic, but it's worth the price you pay clean and tidy rooms, not far from the city center and tourist areas.

The owners were extremely friendly and gave us amazing tips to explore the area. They also arranged the sunset hike on Mount Sibayak and our transfer to Lake Toba, so we had to worry about nothing and could really enjoy our time. Nice Breakfast too!

We had a great stay in the homestay. The room was clean, spacious and bright and welcoming due to the many windows. We had a beautiful view from our room and balcony to the Sibayak volcano overlooking some fields. The area is peaceful and quiet. There is also a fruit market and some convenience stores and smaller restaurants close by. The city centre can be reached by 30 minutes walk or taking one of the local busses which can be also used to reach the volcano and the hot springs. The wonderful staff of the homestay explained us everything so it was super easy to take the public transport. Scooter rental is also available. They have a small restaurant where they offer pizza and some Indonesian dishes (vegetarian and vegan options available too). We ate there every day since the food was delicious and super affordable. They also helped us arranging our transport. We really felt at home there and we were sad to leave! I only wished there would have been a table or a small wardrobe or something for our stuff.

Cesspool!! Open sewers everywhere.

Cesspool!! Open sewers everywhere. The whole town stinks of human and animal waste. Very dirty, trash everywhere. Hostile environment towards outsiders and tourists. Locals openly abuse animals all the time. Impossible to safely consume any food that is not pre-packaged from a Western brand. Consuming anything local or freshly made carries a high risk of infections, parasites, and diseases. No soap anywhere. Everyone tries to cheat you. Hike with Berastagi Adventures is an exception. They are good guides.

The volcano hike was amazing and so beautiful, but there...

The volcano hike was amazing and so beautiful, but there wasn’t much else to do after that. If in a straight couple or a mixed gender group it might be more pleasant to wander around and explore the the town, but as a solo woman or two women it was quite uncomfortable in terms of the amount of attention and harassment we received. If I went again I would just arrive in the afternoon, do the hike in the AM, and then head off again after that.

NICE TOWN, VERY NARROW ROAD, NOT ADVISEABLE TO DRIVE ON YOUR OWN, FOOD IS GOOD, WEATHER VERY NICE COOL. THE DOWN SIDE IS TO GET HERE FROM THE AIRPORT OR MEDAN. THE VERY NARROW WINDING AND THE LOCAL DRIVER IS SCARY, TRAFFIC JAM IS EVERYWHERE

To climb the vulcano in daytime no need for a guide. For the sunset if the sky is clear no guide needed. But if it is cloudy and night - get a guide. Extremly loud city due to the crazy motobikers.

Smiley: 1) On the way to Sibayak, he showed me the beauty of real jungle different from the man-made plantation forest in Bukit Lawang. 2) He let me know how to use public bus. So I went to Lake Toba and Medan by public bus. It was very cheap and really easy. Cecelia 1) She really knew a lot about cooking and was very good at explaining it in English. 2) She was a good cook as well. They were very kind and treated me like one of the family. I really want to see them again.

Hotel Lobby was very well furnished in the traditional Indonesian style with plenty of wooden and natural furnishing. Room was of a large size and tastefully decorated with a big balcony outside with lovely scenery of the countryside. Overall we find the hotel to be of good value for money for the price we pay. One of the best hotel in Berastagi. The Roof Top Restaurant was a good place to eat and relax in beautiful surrounding with nice views.

The most attractive at the Pariban Hotel is the environment around there. I love the environment especially during in the morning very comfort . I can enjoy my mountain view from my room.
