Wonderful stay at Lelewatu! The staff was very friendly, welcoming and nice! Even though the English was poor, it did not matter since the staff was very attentive and helpful. They arranged for us to go horse riding, which was great yet tricky without much experience and without a saddle, but that did not matter especially on the beautiful horses. We had a nice room with big windows with the sea view and to fall asleep with the sound of the waves. There was a private pool with roomservice any time (the springrolls were delicious!!) Terima kasih banyak pak Tanto, mas Anton and the rest of the staff 🙏🏽

We were so pleasantly surprised by Sumba Nautil. It is located on a beautiful big property, with winding paths through their manicured gardens leading to each cottage. The gardens are full of flowers and fruit trees. There is a huge dining area, and an amazing large, clear pool all overlooking the ocean. The view is incredible!! Our cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable with a seating area both inside and out, all with ocean views. It felt like a mini home. The included breakfast was delicious and professionally served by such sweet staff. The owner, Mr Ali was very welcoming and kind to us and very helpful. The whole property is very private and so peaceful - we can’t wait to return

Fantastic villa, only 4 villas very spacious clean and Private, the staff are amazing and really take an interest in looking after you. Food was very good with good variety. We will be back with a few more friends and family. Someone commented about the road in, and how bad it was, it’s actually not to bad as far as Sumba goes, we hired a scooter from the Villas and really explored the area. We would have stayed loner but unfortunately they were booked out. 5 nights was not long enough.

Staying at The Rua Room in Umarato Villa was an experience straight out of a dream. The moment I stepped onto the balcony, I was greeted by a breathtaking ocean view that stretched as far as the eye could see. The sound of waves crashing against the shore created the perfect soundtrack to accompany the stunning vista. But the real gem of this room was the outdoor bathtub nestled amidst the natural beauty of the surroundings. Immersing myself in warm water while surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature was an experience like no other. It was a moment of pure serenity and relaxation, allowing me to unwind and truly connect with the environment. The attention to detail in The Rua Room was impeccable, from the luxurious furnishings to the thoughtful amenities provided. Every aspect of my stay was carefully curated to ensure maximum comfort and enjoyment.

Lydia was a brilliant host, nothing was too much trouble, she, organised motorbikes for us as well as a car and driver for our trip back to the airport via a lovely beach club, also horse riding, advice on what to do and see, and she even spent time teaching my husband to cook some local dishes. Her children were absolutely delightful. The new swimming pool was great and will be amazing once the decking is finished. The rooms were extremely comfortable. If you really want to avoid the tourist crowds and spend some time in an incredible unspoilt location then this will be perfect for you. We would highly recommend getting round on the mopeds as it is the best way to see the absolutely stunning scenery (but be careful of potholes and slippery mud if it rains). Thank you Lydia, we had the best time 🙏

    We knew that the resort is somewhat isolated so and that we had to use their facilities, but the isolation could not be seen as a disadvantage. If you consider how much poverty there is on Sumba, most resorts are pure luxury compared to how the local population lives. If you don't mind to just enjoy the basics in life and have no desire to be entertained like they do in Bali, Sumba is a very good destination.
