Mapusa is a rapidly growing tier 2 city in the heart of Goa and the erstwhile capital of Bardez, the upper half of the State. Home to the Bahmonns and a lot more wildlife. Proceed with caution :). The city is not a popular tourist spot, but a key hub for bus transit to the hundreds of beachside resorts close by. From a footfall perspective, Pednem and Mopa are the new action points. There is a bar/restaurant available in the premises and the food served was delicious. However, I really wish there was a nice, decent restaurant nearby that served breakfast and affordable veg/non-veg thalis—especially for budget solo travelers. The location is just off the main Mapusa–Calangute Road, but it's around 1.5 km from the Mapusa Bus Stand.
