Everything about our stay at B&B Castello Malaspina di Tresana was wonderful. From the pretty courtyard in front of the B&B, which doubled as the village meeting place to the wonderful views and silence of the rural location. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, including a nice bathroom with all amenities. And everything was super clean. Breakfast, which was really good, home made and varied, was served by the utterly friendly and accomodating host, Mariana, in a rustic and cosy dining room with stone vaults, with Mariana making your preferred coffee, eggs, foccasia etc. On top of this, guests have full access to the small castle which the B&B is an integrated part of. On every terrasse and on top of the castle tower, lounge chairs, tables etc. was waiting for guests. We had the most lovely picnic watching the stars and mountains from here. Due to the remote location of the castle, which is situated atop a tiny but pretty village, restaurants and shops are a few km away (3 km for nearest village with a handful of restaurants, 7 km for larger town with all you need) and a car/motorcycle or bicycles are probably needed for staying here. Parking is possible in the courtyard directly in front of the B&B but guests with larger cars might prefer to park >100 m below the castle in a large public parking space as you need to drive through a relatively narrow passageway to park directly in front of the B&B. All in all a highly reccomendable B&B in every way.

Been before - returned: says it all! Lovely place, lovely hostess, lovely comfy bed, fantastic breakfast. I was amazed that a couple's children were even given presents! And having asked where I might obtain good old fashioned postcards, I was then treated to one that had been bought especially for me. Beat that, anywhere else. Thank you.

Great accommodation. Was new on booking so we were curious, but everything was excellent. Great and friendly hosts. The way to the house was a bit tricky to find but they helped out. The house is just amazing and the area around it is very calm. Loved the outside space too!

    Location is great, but you need to prepare for driving...

    Location is great, but you need to prepare for driving winding roads in the mountains. Views are awesome, you can see the La Spezia harbor from the parking lot. Beautiful mountain hiking trails start from the parking lot. Lots of hiking opportunities. Lots of wild animals to watch (fox, boar, rabbits, deer). Hosts are very friendly and helpful., Lots of books inside the house on the history and nature of the region. House is well built and well kept. Horses and dogs stay on a lower level and not readily accessible. Large great room is set up for leisure time or dinner. Can have separate quarters for kids and adults. Plenty of bathrooms and showers. Kitchen has everyhing you need to cook a large family dinner. It would be good to have an ice maker or a portable cooler to keep ice in (refrigirator did not have a freezer or ice maker). Also, it would be good for kitchen to have a screen door with a mesh to keep flies out.

    Very small, just a small cafe and a small general store that...

    Very small, just a small cafe and a small general store that is not open very late. The village is picturesque and there is a castle that can be visited. However Calice is noisy, despite being small - barking dogs, church bells late at night, 3:00 am garbage truck. There are forest trails for hiking, but no other activities.
