Nice little village. Local stores and restaurants and a small port. The castle is beautiful and illuminated by night. We got a rebate voucher from our hotel. Malcesine is a great little village and Hotel Malcesine had some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Be aware that the gondolier to Monte Baldo is incredibly inefficient and you can spend over an hour waiting to get onto the gondolier and even more getting back Having said that I would absolutely recommend going up Baldo for the breathtaking views. Castle worth a visit views from Tower are awesome / too many lovely restaurants and coffee shops to name ! Loved swimming in lake past the castle ! Malcesine is a busy town spread down the east side of the lake. It has a frequent bus service which is not expensive and easier than trying to find somewhere to park! There is a wide range of hotel accommodation to suit most budgets. The beaches are pebbly, but the water is very clear so great for swimming or just cooling off. There are plenty of places to eat, again to suit most budgets and tastes. This was our second visit to the area and we will certainly return.Guest review byHindhaughFrance

Paid a little more but well worth it. Plentiful and tasty breakfast offering fruit, pastries, cold cuts and cheese. Fresh cooked eggs and bacon also available. Staff were very friendly with excellent language skills and always on hand to help or offer suggestions. Very nice pool area that wasn't crowded any of the 5 days we spent there in July. If you travel without a car like us it's good to know that the bus stops literally on the road below the hotel.
