Moneglia is a wonderful small beach city on the Liguiran coast. There are definitely tourists, however not nearly as much as the near by area of Cinque Terra. We felt like we were in a big resort since you would run into the same people throughout your trip. There are some truly amazing restaurants in the town serving amazing local cuisine such as Derna, Monile, and Bistrot Julia. We also loved the local foccacia from Tutta farina del mio sacco for an easy lunch. The people are very nice every where you go, especially when you venture a bit more into the city away from the beach. Lastly, the beach here was amazing with soft sand. This is a town that Italians come to to vacation.
This is a town that Italians come to to vacation. They avoid Cinqueterra and come here. It is an authentic beach town, only missing the "shops"... but that is what makes it not a touristy area. We had never heard of his place and said there to read a long drive from Rome. Moneglia is sort of an island reached by way of one-way tunnels. Once there it is a very cosy and small resort with much space for walking, bars and restaurants. It hasn't changed much in 50 years , very nice village hope it ll stay the same for like forever. Went there for a week made of quality time and relaxed strolling around the village , sitting on benches under a tree early afternoon or walking uphill on the way back to hotel at dusk ,rewarded by the gorgeous view of the bay once you get there . Food rolls back the years as I have Genoan heritage so had to be careful not to indulge too much with focaccia or pansotti or fritue... .Guest review bymassimo

Modernly equipped kitchen and bathroom including Washing machine and dishwasher. Walking distance to beach and town center (a bit sleepy except for restaurants, but with some good shopping). Nice surroundings for walking. Close to train station - to Cinque Terre in 30 min, Genua in 90 min. Caring owners that picked us up from the train station. Effective AC. Walking down to the beach/town was nice, very steep, and a rather tough walk back up, not for the faint of heart! Note that ferries to Cinque Terre are only available a couple of days a week, trains work well however. For the coffee machine in the flats you need special aluminum caps. No restaurants or shops in the vicinity, so make sure you have what you need when you go up. Lovely hosts!Guest review byjennySweden
