Myoko is an incredible region of fun, the mountains offer heaps of ski resorts with fantastic runs, lessons, places to dine and sit with a hot beverage or refreshen beer or sake. Its wonderful for both families and those who are daring to hit the slopes for thrills. The hotel shuttles, local buses and taxis make travel from resort to various slopes, very easy. The snow in Myoko is otherworldly.
The snow in Myoko is otherworldly. The powder is unimaginably great and really loved visiting Seki Onsen Ski Area. It's a small, family-owned ski area run by the Inoue Family who are the kindest and most hospitable people you'll find anywhere in Japan. Family-owned and run ski areas are in decline with large corporations buying up ski areas across Japan, so it was a real treat to ski at an area where the snow was perfect and you're supporting a local business. 10 our 10 for Seki Onsen Ski Area!Guest review byAaronUnited States - 10

Ski areas vary considerably in the area. Akakura Onsen has absolutely the worst lifts i have experienced in Japan. When they weren't broken down they were extremely slow. Myokokogen is a great spot for skiing and snowboarding.
Myokokogen is a great spot for skiing and snowboarding. Most hotels come with their own onsens. As for ski resorts, Suginohara has more advanced terrain, followed by Akakura Kanko (top part), Ikenotaira Alpen Blick and finally Akakura Onsen. Seki onsen is a small but great option on deep powder days. Lotte Arai (advanced terrain) is a 30-min drive from Akakura onsen. As for apres ski, Akakura Onsen is the only option. Lots of restaurants and bars on the main street. Sekigawa (Ikenotaira area) and Suginosawa (Suginohara area) are quite sleepy, and deserted at times.Guest review byMohammedJapan - 8.0

We went to Myoko for the snow and we got the snow! Loved the long ski runs at Suginohara and skiied there 3 days. Also skied one day each at Ikenotaura Onsen and Seki Onsen. Low visibility killed us! Be prepared to ski in low cloud and less groomed tracks. Lime Resort Onsen was fantastic. Seki onsen itself was wonderful. the hotel itself is right next to this oldest ski resort in Japan which is still family- owned, had plenty of powder, and most importantly, was not overrun by Australians like in Akakura village. we had a car so accessing the other ski resorts nearby and going out to dinner was fabulous.Guest review byChristineAustralia

The concierge, Meiko, was amazing, incredibly helpful with general advice, restaurant booking, transfers. The hotel was spotlessly clean and tidy, the rooms super comfortable. The onsen is fabulous. Great location at the top of the main street, easy walk to restaurants, ski hire and ski lift is nearby. I could not fault anything about our stay at Kogakuro.
