Outstanding experience. Best place we stayed in during almost a month of travel. Comfortable beds, nice and spacious room, everything amazing. We took room with a private bath and foot bath because we didn't know what the stance about tattoos was in this onsen, and I am pretty heavily tattooed. Apparently, it's not a problem! We still stayed in a private bath, but it was nice to know that there is an option.

The private bath in the garden was great and overall the location in the mountains is incredible. Dinner along the river is fantastic (Maiko present on weekends). Breakfast is also very good.

A tranquil overnight stay after Tokyo and before Kyoto. Welcoming and helpful staff, delicious traditional dinner and breakfast. Mountain View room had huge windows with views of autumn trees. Reserved the private (outside) onsen for a relaxing bath.
