This was by far the best stay of my three weeks of solo traveling in Sri Lanka. The boutique hotel is beautifully designed with such great taste by the owner, and the staff are incredibly friendly, doing everything they can to make you feel comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, and everything was spotless. After weeks of traveling around, I was able to fully relax here. I truly recommend this place to everyone ! the people are so kind, and the setting is stunning. You can even purchase some of the carefully curated items displayed in the hotel, which makes it extra special. An absolute top hotel!

It was an amazing stay, biggest thanks to the owner Kumudu and his staff. The location of the property is great - everything is easy reachable by tuk tuk - the Galle center, great beaches, restaurants and so on. We really loved our superior deluxe room with jungle view, we even saw monkeys up close from our terrace! Room had an amazing outdoor shower which we loved very much, room was very spacious and equipped with everything that you might need like the shampoo, shower gel, soap, hairdryer, high quality mosquito net, tea kettle etc. We also loved traditional Sri Lankan breakfast every morning. Overall it was a very peaceful, relaxing stay with a beautiful surroundings and a feeling like you are staying in the middle of a jungle. Thank you once again Kumudu, our biggest recommendations to stay in Ceylon Olive Galle when in Sri Lanka.

Had an amazing experience staying at Ginganga lodge with family (including a toddler and elderly parents) for 3 nights. The owner and staff were exceptional, courteous, helpful and very professional. They accommodated all our requests (eg: early morning tea, afternoon tea to room, storing some fruits and things for kid in fridge). They were also thoughtful with being umbrellas when it rained, assisting parents when needed and also coming to accompany us in the night from parking lot. The lodge itself met our expectations to the fullest. Rooms were cosy, beds were comfortable. Unique experience with the outdoor bathrooms and showers. The lodge is a nature lovers paradise and the architecture blends in so well with the surroundings. Very tastefully decorated. We booked including breakfast and each day it was a delight to have freshly prepared delicious food (traditional Sri Lankan style or western style and both options were great). The pool is also so serene, perfect temperature, clean and kid and us enjoyed the nice dip and swim the the pool early morning. We also requested a river boat ride and the owner arranged it in easily and we enjoyed all the experiences a lot. The place is well maintained, offers a unique experience and great value for money.

I enjoyed my stay in Galle.

I enjoyed my stay in Galle. The place was very clean and the environment was relaxing. It’s a good location to explore the city and enjoy the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the beds were a bit old and already broken, so it wasn’t very comfortable. If they fix that, it would be a much better stay. Overall, a nice experience and good value.

Plenty to do in Galle, well worth visiting.

Plenty to do in Galle, well worth visiting. Just DON’T use the White Queen, as the manager will make it very difficult for you to get any redress if there’s a problem (I was charged for a five night stay instead of Four, and only realised after payment had been taken-silly me!) Enjoy your stay, just elsewhere in Galle.

Absolutely filthy city.

Absolutely filthy city. Litter everywhere, all around the fort was dirty and had rubbish , plastic waste and broken bottles strewn around and piled up in bags. They should revoke the UNESCO rating for the fort so the government clean it up. It was months of rubbish or like a field after a festival and not just rubbish after a weekend. There were just a few rubbish bins around the ramparts but they were overflowing and broken By far the dirtiest city we have visited in Sri Lanka

The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it has a vibe of its own. It’s completely safe at any time of the day, even for solo travelers. There’s so much history within the Fort walls to learn about and beautiful architecture to explore. The hosts at the restaurants and hotels inside the Fort are amazing, and the service is truly of international standard. The view of the Indian Ocean from the Ramparts is simply breathtaking. There are plenty of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and dishes to try. Outside the Fort, I highly recommend visiting the beaches at Unawatuna, just a few kilometers from Galle City Centre. While you’re there, don’t miss the Japanese Peace Pagoda at Rumassala — you won’t regret it! Yaddehimulla Road in Unawatuna has everything from surf schools and restaurants to gem shops, gelato spots, international cuisines, and everything in between. For quick bites and essentials, SPAR Supermarket at Galle City Centre is your go-to place. You’ll find tasty rice and curry meals, ready-to-eat options, mosquito repellent, basic medical supplies, snacks, good-quality fruits, and other everyday necessities.

quaint and charming place, with a relaxed pace of life -- besides the Galle fort, peace tower, handloom factory, silk showroom, and spice garden, there lots of good places nearby with treks and forest trails-- mahamura, sinharaja, yala, ,kanneliya-- boon for nature lovers ! watch out for the leeches though !

If you're going to Galle, stay inside the Fort. Lots of charming little villas and boutique hotels where you can drop your bags and go walkabout, soaking in the colonial charm and enjoying the relaxed vibe. Great food options, live music and incredible sunsets.

Don't look any further - this is by far the best guesthouse / hotel we stayed at during our holiday. Run by a very kind and hospitable Sri Lankan man with an Italian history, a lover of his 9 friendly cats, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Bed was comfortable, great shower, excellent generous breakfast and all staff were utterly friendly and nice to us. Will be back next time I visit Galle!

The hotel is amazing, the rooms are very beautiful and super clean. The bathroom is also very spacious and clean. The woman from the staff is really nice and speaks very good English. She also explained to us how to properly eat the Sri Lankan breakfast, which by the way was delicious! I can highly recommend this cute hotel, with very good location, next to the Galle Lighthouse.

A small nice hotel tucked into Galle centre, we had the room which backed onto the entrance lobby, not the end of the world, just meant no outside fresh air. The hotel itself is good in decor and had everything we needed. Great location for walking everywhere in Galle, plenty of good food nearby. The breakfast was good, with options for continental or Sri Lankan.

The hotel is amazing, the architecture and the interior design are stunning. The rooms were well equipped and beautifully presented. The staff were very courteous and friendly. You can not beat the location inside the beautiful Galle fort. The breakfast ( both western and Sri lankan) was very good.
