The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has a lot to offer to the tourists who want to know about the history of Sri Lanka. It has so many ruins and monuments to view, and especially marvel at the stone crafting abilities of ancient Sri Lankans who have created so many buddhist states and artistic monuments by using rocks. Ruins is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is very nice. The food, the rooms are amazing. I invite all local and foreign people to come here and have fun. Located outside the city, it is a quiet and pleasant place to stay. In all respects, Ruins is a beautiful hotel located in Polonnaruwa. The site seeing of historical places were the best.
The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. The family who owns and operates the hotel are the nicest, sweetest people we met in Sri Lanka. The hotel has good AC, reliable hot water, is clean and has a nice breakfast. It is in a quiet neighborhood very close to the ruins, and you can walk to the reservoir to watch gorgeous sunsets. The family was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. We had two large rooms overlooking the lake. Beautiful sunrise in de morning. Mongoose, squirrels and many types of birds visible from our window. Very friendly and helpful staff.
