I would definitely recommend this wonderful homestay in Mulu! It was a warm welcome from James, who grew up in this remote place. Authentic doesn't get any more authentic, I think. He explained to us all the things you can do and what to bring for a perfect experience. With Brenda we had a wonderful tour of the large caves and she gives us all the information about the animals we saw along the way. In the evening they showed us a documentary on a big screen about the history of Mulu and the struggle between the locals and the palm oil industry. It was very interesting! We loved absolutely everything. Staying at the resort feels like being in paradise. The architecture and gardens are stupendous. The staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and efficient. A special mention must be made of the quality of the food : it is almost unbelievable to discover such a talented chef in the middle of the jungle : the restaurant can compete with the best in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. We would come back only to have another taste of the bamboo chicken!

Basic but you will stay at the park a lot of the time you are in Mulu anyway. Anil is a great host and was super helpful. Also he will bring you to the park entrance and picks you up from there as you like. The view from the restaurant to the river is outstanding.

Ideal location for visiting Mulu National Park. Good value for money, and the hosts are extremely friendly. Great for breakfast and dinner. Lunch is usually served in the National Park, where you spend the day. Clean homestay with a spacious room with an ensuite bathroom.

Lovely and super friendly hosts who make you feel like home :) Great breakfast and dinner (which you can order additionally). Nice, clean rooms. Be aware that there is no AC, but it is not a problem at all. Right across the street from the airport. Thank you Salina and Denny! Mulu was a highlight of our trip and staying in Tribal Homestay was really great :)

Our hosts Dina and Robert made the stay memorable and personalised. They offered help including trips recommendations, meals preparation and transfer to the airport. It felt like being welcomed into their home and living with family. We even had a karaoke night! The place is kept clean and there is luggage storage. The home cook meals were made from homegrown vegetables too, they were delicious.

This review is based on the situations in a remote place like Mulu. The stay was good. It's about 1-1.5 km from Mulu national park and airport, so it's in walkable location. The host Helena and Shania was supportive. The room had 3 single beds. Initially I thought it would be a dormitory type of stay. But they have multiple rooms. It is a budget homestay. They prepare dinner and lunch is you ask for. Prices are at par with Mulu park restaurant.
