A nice small quiet town with a few restaurants. Very picturesque with lots of canals. Good transport links to Amsterdam so you don’t have to stay in the hustle and bustle of a busy city. Historic quiet little town with great restaurants and a few interesting shops and some free parking. Easy drive to other attractions such as Marken, Volendam, Alkmaar Friday morning Cheese Market, Horne and Zuiderzee open air museum. Edam is a lovely village and great base for visiting Amsterdam, especially for families. There’s not a lot to do in Edam itself, but it’s really pretty and all the people we met were very friendly. Edam is a great little village.
Edam is a great little village. The cheese market is a must see. Get there a little early to get a front row seat, maybe 15 minutes before it opens. The canals are great and I recommend hiring a boat to do a one hour self guided tour. There are only a few restaurants in the town. We went to Volendam for food which was great. It is a bit hard to get to and even harder to get back. No Ubers available in the evening and all the taxi companies were not even picking up the phone.
