My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this lodge and it began the moment we arrived. The owners welcomed us warmly and, as we had cycled all day to get to it and did not realise that the store across the street (which is in fact not a store) would be closed, we had no food for the evening. Without a moment's hesitation the owners arranged a nice supper for us, including a salad picked fresh from their garden. We spent an interesting evening chatting with them as well as another couple of local New Zealanders staying at the lodge. The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean, and there is a nice deck to sit out on. The location, right near the beach, is a perfect stop for cyclists on the way from Picton to Kaikoura, and we can highly recommend it!

Outstanding location above the surfing beaches. Very private landscaped grounds. Convenient to Kaikoura. The dark night sky was so awesome - seeing the Milky Way and constellations!

Excellent night's stay at this accommodation. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The bedroom and facilities were so comfortable, clean and you have a self service kitchen with everything you need. There is an area outside of the bedroom to relax in and a balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains to enjoy a morning coffee or stargaze at night. Will definitely stay here again when in Kaikoura.
