Always on the Move

A city on the move, Warsaw is constantly changing in an effort to rebuild what was lost during World War Two. There’s no better example of this than the stunning Old Town Square, where pastel facades sit alongside dome-topped spires.

Starting here is the Royal Route which passes several historic buildings on its way out to Wilanów, where an ornate Royal Palace is set in a huge park that was the retreat of kings since the 17th century. Just as grandiose is the Palace of Culture and Science, Stalin’s gift to Warsaw that still manages to evoke feelings of hatred and love in equal measure. Go up to the terrace for panoramic city views.

Other cultural offerings are the Warsaw Uprising Museum, considered the best museum in Poland, and traditional bars that still serve down-to-earth food washed down with a shot of vodka - a throwback to the Communist era. Don’t expect to find a seat though – there aren’t any.

Warsaw also has a thriving club scene and more shopping centres than you could throw a stick at. Not that you’d want to, as you’ll be too busy picking up the bargains.

Just outside the city is Warsaw Airport, efficiently linked by public transport to the city’s hotels, guest houses and hostels, available on Booking.com.

Warsaw is a beautiful and modern city full of life and history. Everything is well organized, public transport works great, and people are friendly and helpful. The city feels safe, clean and full of great restaurants, parks and shopping options. We especially enjoyed the Old Town and the modern areas with amazing architecture. Perfect destination for a family trip – we’ll definitely come back!

My favorite city in Europe, for sure it has special place in my heart. Perfect for everyone; those who wanna visit, experience culture, go with business or just have fun. Night life is amazing, during the day even if weather isn’t pleasant you can easily find something to do.

Despite being rebuilt virtually from scratch since World War...

Despite being rebuilt virtually from scratch since World War 2, much of it in line with authoritarian socialist doctrine, there is much to commend in this city. The proud, independent spirit of the Polish people shines through the legacy of functional urban planning. Yes, the city had to be rebuilt quickly, but it didn't have to be so ugly. Fortunately a small core of the historic city centre was faithfully recreated and the contrast between that and the post-war tenement blocks is part of the attraction. There is also a burgeoning business district characterised by bold, modern architecture e.g. Varso Tower, the Spire. There is much to do and see in Warsaw, whether it's for history, culture, gastronomy. Oh, and the local beer scene is excellent!

Warsaw to me is a transit point.

Warsaw to me is a transit point. Good for shopping and eating out - Zloty Tarasy is a great place when it's cold outside, it has a convenient transport system (trams, metro, busses), but most of the times it's gray and depressive. When it's sunny, you can also walk around in its beautiful parks. When it's winter, drink some grzane pivo - a mulled beer, I guess? Sounds gross but it's awesome. Other than that, I do not find Warsaw a particularly exciting tourist destination. But if you are here for a day or two, there is something to do.

A beautiful, well-maintained European city. Numerous museums, parks, and simply beautiful streets. One of the positive aspects is that you can walk safely even at night. Reasonable prices for hotel accommodations, transportation (including taxis), food, and museums.

Warsaw is a great city — big, yet relatively easy to get around. The Royal Baths and its park are stunning in autumn. Parking was easy with the moBILET app. The collection at the National Museum is exceptional. Finding accommodation was also simple.
