The town is definitely geared up for tourists but it is certainly seasonal. Out of season there is not much to do there. There are a huge number of camper vans and RVs around the parking areas along the beach roads, because of the surfing. Beautiful fishing village with charm and character as well as lovely activity filled beaches. Lovely restaurants and bars to soak up the sun. 3 nights was perfect to walk the coast and spend some time relaxing and on the beach. We had a car but walked everywhere to get the best out of it. Recommend the Java house bar for drinks and relaxing and check around for restaurants. There are some on the harbour front but some of the best ones were hidden in the back streets with amazing service and fresh, beautiful dishes to choose from.Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The area is nice.
The area is nice. However the beaches in the area is NOT for little kids. Too wavy and rough. Possible that on a calm day the beaches south of Peniche facing the southwest could be calmer but on the day we went they were all rough. We went to a beach to Praia da Foz do Arelho about 20-25 mins away that was sheltered from the ocean and the kids had a blast. At night there was a festival but otherwise the town was sort of quite despite being middle of July and supposedly "high tourist season".Guest review byPeterCanada - 10.0

It is an amazing surfing spot but not much more than that.
It is an amazing surfing spot but not much more than that. I would recommend it if you want do surfing (beginner or advanced). Otherwise it is a rather cold place (10degrees less than Lisbon), the sea is very wavy and cold, and there is a lot of wind.Guest review byZala

I must say the hotel was very clean and Fresh good 3* standard, despite the going back in time with the 60/70 s furniture😂 The bed was very comfortable, even if it looked like my granny’s has did the room! Breakfast was ok but nothing special . Staff were ok but didn’t talk much! Overall worth a overnight stop in Peniche we’re other hotels are expensive.
