The location and view was amazing, as were the staff and the breakfast. The lift to the top and bottom of the bridge really assists in getting around Porto. The pool bar was fab. We also enjoyed the cosy indoor bar. The room and beds were very comfortable. The AC in the room was very good.

The hotel location was fabulous with splendid views of Porto. The hotel itself beautifully appointed with high end furniture and amenities. Art pieces throughout the whole hotel complement the premium feeling of it. Great pools, great staff and amazing views. And all of this while keeping an authentic feeling of the previous building in this new repurposing for the hotel. Excellent.

There was very little to NOT like about this resort and the staff. Truly surprising experience in a good way! The resort is small but beautiful. The room was very comfortable. Both pools (indoor and outdoor) were very nice. Steam room was a wonderful treat, as was the sauna. Food was great! We had normal expectations and were blown away by the uniqueness of this place. Staff were all lovely and very accommodating.

This hotel is exceptional; the staff are professional and nice, and everything is clean and arranged properly. The rooms are huge and have amazing views. I was upgraded to a superior room, and the view from the terrace was breathtaking. I spent 70% of my time in Porto/Gaia just sitting on that amazing terrace. The room service was delicious and high quality, nothing cheap here. The Spa had great options. I loved the city, but the main reason I might come back is the hotel.

We liked the bed (a king size bed made of 2 twin beds): very good mattresses, very nice sheets. The location is excellent: in a quiet part of Vila Nova de Gaia, a 10-15 minute walk to the metro, Jardim do Morro, the river front, the wine cellars and supermarkets. Bring your best running shoes and train your calves before coming! The apt. M, the one with the balcony on the front and the church-like window, is on the top floor, accessible by elevator. It’s a good size for a couple. The kitchen has everything to cook a simple meal. There is a secure luggage storage in the lobby, very convenient. Adelaide (room service) is very nice.

The views across the river Dourro to Porto are wonderful,...

The views across the river Dourro to Porto are wonderful, especially at night. A good choice of river cruises are easily accessible and the Port houses are a great attraction. Plenty of good, reasonably priced restaurants and Porto is 5 minutes away across the foot bridge. It's worth noting, however, that both Villa Nova Da Gaia and Porto, although beautiful, have very steep hills.

We visited during the Sao Joao festival and although extremely crowded- one of the most magical nights I've ever experienced. Such a beautiful sight to see, thousands of floating lanterns throughout the nights sky and a unbeatable fireworks show at midnight!

We chose this area as it was more relaxed than Porto central, but very easy to go between the 2 areas either on foot (downhill), or by metro, or tram. Also, all the port lodges are on this side of the River Duoro

Everything was great. The apartment was clean and cozy, near all of the amenities (walking distance). It is located in a peaceful environment in Vila Nova de Gaia. Our host, Nuria, was very friendly and helpful. On our way out we accidentally locked a wallet in the apartment and Nuria and her friend took the time to come in a hurry and bring us another set of keys. Hopefully we'll come again and visit beautiful Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia and try to stay in this apartment.

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. I can't complain about a single thing. Lady in reception was so lovely and helpful. The location was perfect. 2 minutes walk from the main buzz of porto. Our room was spotless. The bed and pillows were probably the comfiest I've slept on in a hotel stay and I've stayed at many! I would definitely recommend.

Found the River Soul by accident and as a last minute booking while we were in the country. We weren't sure what to expect but were blown away by the hotel and its proximity to the city centre (both on the Gaia and the Porto side of the river) Our room on the 2nd floor looked out over the Douro river with amazing views of Porto on the opposite bank.
