The Casa offered us 2 huge rooms with comfy beds, very nice showers and bathrooms including all the necessities. The room features a mini-fridge, microwave, and kettle plus a kitchen sink so one could prepare some food, but the common kitchen is also available to use with complimentary coffee and tea all day. The place is very quiet for sleeping with only four rooms total, plus it's on a side street with a large verandah between the hotel and the street. It's located just behind the actual Correios building a few steps from the main pedestrian center, with access to many places to eat and shop. One added pleasure was that the hotel has been decorated like a museum, with artifacts from old post offices and artistic touches in the same theme. The cordial owner was pleased to show us all the nice pieces, like the old phones and signage. A excellent choice in a lovely city. We will return for a longer stay!

Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink. It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there. Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.

Very hot but what a quaint place.

Very hot but what a quaint place. Loved thecmin street and the little surrounding streets. So much history, many churches and amazing views across to the big viaduct if you follow the main street down to the old cemetery . Delightful place.

There is a good choice of restaurants and bars in town.

There is a good choice of restaurants and bars in town. Same goes for shops - no big stores but quite a lot of independent small businesses. There is a walkway across the valley which takes you past streams and small waterfalls and is worth the effort. The walkway has been re-furbished and is worth the effort to go across. Best to wear trainers or similar.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly Angela - who helped us with the reservation and with excellent hints and tourist information after our arrival. The place is an oasis of environmental tranquility, having beautiful gardens, trees, birds and an overall ecological approach. Vila Real is also pet friendly, which for us represented an enormous advantage. If a hotel does not accept our dog we would not patronize it. The location is excellent, not far from the city centre, from the House of Mateus and not far from the Douro Valley vineyards. The breakfast was good and the service always friendly. Excellent, we do recommend Vila Real.

The location was the best but you cannot go for walks - the location is best for visiting Mateus. It is outside the town. The dining room has classical interior but what spoils it is a large tv screen blaring out programmes like in a motorway restaiurant

Breakfast was lovely! All locally produced foods, eggs cheese and bread! Fresh orange juice! We had no tv in our room ( some rooms do have tv’s) but this wasn’t a big deal! Would have appreciated another mirror-in the main bedroom as the the bathroom had the only one but again we managed. I had my tablet so accessed everything I needed on that. The honesty shop sold wine beer bread and snacks at vey reasonable prices! Ginas restaurant down the road was great and very cheap

I asked for a quiet room, as I have trouble sleeping with noise. They gave me exactly that, a room that was completely silent at night (No. 215), with a balcony with a superb view of the Corgo river and the Corgo Walkways. The room was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. Same for the bathroom. It is not a new Hotel -- which for me is a plus -- but it is perfect for those that appreciate large rooms and that comfort of the 80s style hotels. The staff was always very kind and willing to help.

Beautiful hotel, it really is a green oasis amazingly positioned on the edge of a significant historical town. The rooms are as unique as the location, the breakfast and evening tapas delicious and the easy access honesty shop a gem. We were there in low season but the weather was so good we were able to swim in the beautiful pools and enjoy evening strolls in the scenic grounds.

Staff was great! The food in the hotel restaurant was Amazing and they give great wine advice. Location was also good. Breakfast wasn't great for the price you pay. Not a lot of bacon, and no fresh fruit juice. Otherwise, super good all around.

Perfect location, amazing spaces, and accommodating host. Vila Real at Christmas time was lovely. The main square is close by and we were dazzled by the entertainment. Many excellent eateries are within an easy walk.
