Very friendly receptionist. Fantastic location if you need to get to the airport. Large and clean room and a bathroom. Very good breakfast and excellent coffee, one of the best I had in a long time, strong, strong, strong👏👏👏. Thank you Praia Hotel for these big coffee cups. The hotel also provides a free shuttle🙏🙏🙏

Alex, the owner’s daughter, is an extraordinary host, she helps with all possible questions. Her help is valuable especially for non-Portugese speakers. The hotel is very well run and kept. The room was very clean and comfortable. AC worked without problem. Good Wi-Fi. Very tasty breakfast. The hotel has a nice garden. The hotel is in walking distance from the center of São Tomé.

The place is perfectly clean. The people in reception were very helpful, although the frequent blackouts in Sao Tomé make their life rather complicated. A place close to the airport. Good breakfast despite of early time of our departure.

The hotel's owner is really nice and helpful with everything - just ask! Perfect location downtown in walking distance to supermarkets, café, restaurants, a car rental and tour agency. I was even able to check out very late at no cost as my flight had originally been delayed to nighttime.

A wonderful place to explore.

A wonderful place to explore. Very much off the beaten path, where tourism has yet to flourish. This can present some challenges, but it's very much a place to get stuck in and explore at your own pace. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found here and all the challenges (poor roads, language barriers, lack of basic amenities) are worth overcoming to experience the nature at hand. The people are friendly, the island's vibe is laid back and there is something for everyone here. What I will say is that a lot of research and planning is required for a lengthy stay in Sao Tome, it's not a place where you can get by on the fly, you need to be prepared and research everything that you're looking to do.

Sao Tome should be combined with a few days in Principe...

Sao Tome should be combined with a few days in Principe which we did not do. It is underdeveloped in tourist terms - fine for us though. The main attractions need a certain persistence given the state of the roads. Beware goats, dogs, pigs and motor cycles having a different view of how roads should be used. Mostly beware of children. On two occasions aggressive begging by children was excessive. We like to drive ourselves and hiring a driver would probably have deterred them. TAP is the only flight option from Europe. Our flight out did not have the planned aircraft and the substitute did not have the expected facilities and which required an added fuel stop.

Sao Tome island is incredible, even though the slowness of things here can get annoying. Sometime you can't get service even if you pay extra. Taxis are super expensive, so better rent a car or take a guided tour. Actually I strongly recommend to take a guided tour at least the first day. Most people don't speak English, just Portugese.

Very humid and not really geared up for tourists. Getting taxis unless you speak Portugese is difficult except from a hotel. Mainly cloudy in early March. The museum in the light house is very interesting. Meals out were variable but often with large portions particularly of rice.

Every country has its interesting sights and so has Sao Tomé. It is worth a visit. It is much more African than Cabo Verde. It lacks however the traditional villages like Benin or Togo. I was a bit disappointed by the quality of its beaches and the snorkeling. There is not much of coral, but there are colourful fishes and large quantities. There are great hiking possibilities in dry season in beautiful green plantation or forests. It is a lot safer than many other African destination. There are beautiful birds, but no large animals in the natural parks.

Gente d’aqui is a small paradise in São Tomé. The view is breathtaking, the atmosphere is relaxed and the food is both delicious and very well priced. João is a wonderful host and we loved spending the evening chatting with him and the other guests. The only reason we cannot give ten stars is the current power cut situation on the island, which also affects Gente d’aqui. A beautiful lodge like this deserves a generator or an off grid system so guests can enjoy its full potential. :)

Air con in the room was a great relief after walking around in the hot and humid capitol. Aswell was a dip in the good sized swimmingpool even if it has seen better days. Nice community area and a little garden to hang out in was also a plus. Friendly staff. Good wifi. Accommadation is overall expensive in Sao Tome' but this place was the best value of money in our holiday. We would stay again!

We had a wonderful stay! The hotel is in a convenient location near the airport, which made our travel really easy. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety. The outdoor area was a nice place to relax, and to top it off, we got a upgrade for a small fee. The staff were friendly and attentive, excellent service all around.

Casa de Ferias is an exceptional little place to stay in Sao Tome. A larger than life host, Bernilda and I had a cosy annex room to relax and write during a stressful month. The location is excellent and great Wi-Fi too. This is the only place to consider to stay in Sao Tome.
