The hotel is close to the main attractions in Istanbul, but in a quite place. Everything was just fine, very polite, kind and helpful staff, comfortable bed, clean, spacious room, good breakfast. As an example, my wife left her cardigan in the airport transfer car, and with the leadership of Fouad the staff could get it back, a special thank to everyone involved in it! We felt that the receptionists, the cleaning team and the personal at the breakfast all worked very hard to make sure we could have a good time!

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

Since this is just the second time I was in Istanbul, I can...

Since this is just the second time I was in Istanbul, I can say my favorite places are Boğaziçi Üniversitesi, İstanbul Üniversitesi, Çay Bahçesi which is near the Istanbul University, it is also near a very old library. We ate at different places, we really loved Emek Kafe where there are büreks and other tasty things. My mom and I had su büreği and it was delicious. Our friend also had it and he had bürek with potatoes, which we also tried and it was a bit spicy. We do not really like spicy food, but in any case it was also tasty. We also loved the food in Yörem Kebab Salonu - the staff, the live music, the prices, everything was great. I cannot say it is easy to get around Istanbul especially for a blind person - my mom and I are blind and our friend who is sighted was guiding us, but the streets were pretty narrow and there were no traffic lights everywhere. The drivers would not really stop when we passed by and that was a bit tedious, but maybe one could get used to this if they live there, even a blind person who learns the routes and uses the white cane. I think that walking around the city and riding around in a ship from which you can see Bosfora and other great landmarks is a great activity. We also visited the white cane festival at the Istanbul University, where people can see all the different things blind people are able to do - such as making different purses and key chains with strings, using different white canes, playing computer games. I was in Istanbul only for three days and I wish I stayed longer, it is such a big city that I have not discovered half, maybe even more than half of the things there. The first time when I was there was seven years ago and I stayed only for one day. I will definitely go to Istanbul again, it is great and people are so hospitable, warm and friendly.

Such a vibrant, exciting clean city! It is huge! We were only there for a few days, so we stayed in Sultanamet. Food was fantastic and history and buildings were amazing. We used the tram easily and experienced a Hammam and did a Bosphorous cruise and saw the Whirling Dervishes in addition to the usual sites. Lots of hills and picturesque narrow cobble stone streets. Such a charming place!

Istanbul has surprises around every corner. Choose between bustling streets, markets (especially the Egyptian market), quiet riverside, museums (including the cat museum!) street musicians, food, nightlife, and more. Be prepared to walk, especially uphill, to make the most of it.

There are many layers of history in Istanbul. It has very interesting major sites such as the Basilica Cistern, Haya Sofia, Topkapi Palace.I also loved the diversity of the neighborhoods we visited, the fantastic food, the outdoor dining and the energy of the place. We used the trains, trams, ferries and taxis to get around the city - pretty straightforward even though we spoke English only.

Taxis were very expensive and being tourists, being ripped off due to not knowing anything. Traffic was a nightmare, but that was the turkish way of driving. You need to have a strong heart to cope with their driving style.

Be prepared: Istanbul is BIG = the 4th biggest city in the world. This is worth considering when you are planning your journey from and to the airports. Again, the culture of the city is 'big'. Lots to see, hustle and bustle, but there are cultural gems tucked in amongst the must-see sights, such as Pandeli restaurant above the Spice Market - opened in 1902. If you have the time, try to get away from the historic/tourist centre for half a day - go to spend time in a more local area, such as Moda and the surrounding areas on the coast on the Asian side. The tourist must-sees include the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern. If you have been thinking whether you should go to Istanbul, the answer is a resounding yes. It's safe, lively, interesting and has fascinating layers of history.

I always stay at the Marble Hotel in Istanbul, whether with family or as a solo traveler. This December, I had three different bookings as I traveled to Bursa and returned. I've stayed here almost 10 times over the past three years, spending a total of more than 30 days. The hotel staff are very friendly and supportive. Eren is an excellent leader. The breakfast was outstanding, and the location is unbeatable—right at the heart of Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. December in Istanbul was exceptional, with amazing weather.

Location is perfect next to Metro and walking distance to Galata Tower and even Taksim square and street shops. Many restaurants and shops very close although the street itself is quiet. The attention from Safak from reception was the BEST! He helped me to find a taxi to travel and has been always helpful with luggage and everything. This is the best property you will find in Istanbul Taksim Square. It’s a very clean hotel with amazing staff who go above and beyond to help their customers. It states that it is a 3 star hotel but in fact the service and support received makes it 5* If anyone visits or plans to stay in Taksim Square, this hotel is the BEST option. We will definitely book again next summer when we come again!
