We recently stayed at Downtown Sirkeci Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were spotless, with comfortable beds that ensured a restful night’s sleep. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety of delicious options every day, ensuring there was something for everyone. The hotel also impressed with its spacious and fast elevator, which made getting around the building easy and efficient. Additionally, the location is fantastic — conveniently close to all the main attractions, making it easy to explore the city. What truly made our stay memorable, however, was the exceptional service. A special thank you to Mr. Fouad, who went above and beyond to help us recover a suitcase we had forgotten at the airport. He was always available and answered our questions with a friendly smile. I’d also like to express my gratitude to Mr. Ahmet for his helpful tips.

where to start....10/10 location. couldnt ask for a better location. no slopes and you can walk to Tophane station in 3 min. from there you can take tram to Karakoy and then from there Finikler to Istaklal cad. one end or from Tophane to Kabatas and then Finikler (tunnel train) to Taksim square (other side of istaklal. you can also take Tophane to any of the stations to Sultanahmet, Eminonu or Kapali charsi. Best of all the location of hotel is on a very quiet street so absolutely no noise except for sound of prayer in early morning because mosque is very near. The room.was very big and beds were very very comfortable. best of all the lifesaver was the elevator. Staff very very helpful as they helped with stroller everyday on entrance stairs and bags coming and leaving hotel. When we asked for new bedsheets and pillows, iron and blankets they gave immediately. windows opened so lots of fresh air. room was very nice and bright.

FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

A very big city with amazing history.

A very big city with amazing history. We hired a private guide to take us around and I am glad we did. Our guide also had a driver because I have mobilty issues. The city is really massive and we only had 3 days so the guide allowed us to see as much as we could. The mosques, the cistern, the food, the shops cruise was great. The Borphorus cruise was great. We did the sunset cruise. I generally felt safe and felt the people were gracious and polite. The tram was easy to use.

I really liked the city and the places in the old town.

I really liked the city and the places in the old town. One thing I didn’t like was some people taking advantage of foreigners, like the taxi driver charging extra for using the tunnel, waiter saying the 10% service was the tax, and adding service on top, entrance to the Aya Sofya Mosque charging for the museum when we didn’t ask for it (50 Eur instead of 25 Eur per person). Other than this things the visit was great!

Istanbul is not for everyone.

Istanbul is not for everyone. It is a very large city and very crowded, particularly in the tourist spots. Many of the historical sites are in walking distance of each other. Transport system is great with an Istanbul Card. Try all the different Turkish foods from the street vendors and restaurants. Do your research when selecting an area you want to stay, as some areas around Galata and Taksim are very hilly if you plan to do a lot of walking. Very impressed with the Cruise terminal. Just like a big shopping and entertainment precinct, but converts to a very efficient Cruise Terminal when ships are docked. We’ll be back.

beautiful city, good transport system not very well...

beautiful city, good transport system not very well synchronized with google maps, but the transit system is huge, tram, metro, buses, ferries. all very affordable, just an Istanbul card. food is quite expensive. but over all Istanbul should be on your list to visit before you no longer exist. must visit: galata, tower, galata bridge, Taksim, Istiklal st, sultanahmet, hagia sophia, blue mosque, topkapi palace, umbrella st, bosphorus ride on a ferry, dont book from tour company, just ride the regular ferry in the day time not evening, there are many other palces to visit, istanbul is full of attractions and beautiful historical palces.

Plenty of public transport with ferries continuously going to the Asian side. Cheap as well. Plenty of Bosphorus trips as well (250Tl) for 1.5 hours. Tramline T1 is very convenient for main sites. So much to see and do. Plenty of restaurants everywhere. You need at least 4 days .See the Blue mosque. Have a Turkish bath. Take a boat trip. You'll have a great time.

October was a good time for sightseeing even though it...

October was a good time for sightseeing even though it rained occasionally. The sun always came out again and it was much more pleasant than the previous visit during summer. The Istanbul card was easy to purchase and refill and made using the public transport system simple and very economical. As it also included the direct ferry routes across and along the Bosporus - but not the tours - it made travel on the water very attractive. The smaller locations along the Bosporus, especially on the Asian side were still full of visitors - especially at the weekend - but were generally less of a crush than around Sultan Ahmet and the Galata bridge. We particularly enjoyed walking round the leafy suburb of Kuzguncuk near Üsküdar.

We were passing through Istanbul, so we needed a hotel that was close to Taksim Square, Istiklal Street and also the Havaist point to the airport. Everything came together perfectly here. The location is very convenient. The staff is polite and responsive, always in touch, also very understanding, they approached the fact that we arrived early. Despite the fact that check-in was later, they checked us in earlier, which was very convenient. Inside the small room there is enough space, air conditioning, kitchen and cooking utensils.
