Amazing property- a mansion with about 6 rooms, really pretty and characteristic. Very close to the old city of Mardin. Nice terrace to have tea and coffee and view the valley. Zuhal and Lokman were amazing hosts and they looked after us so well, especially after the accident my friend had and hurt her foot in the city. They arranged a car for the hospital and back and made sure we were looked after. Thank you once again Lokman and Zuhal.

This was definitely the best stay of our trip to southeastern Turkey (Şanlıurfa, Gaziantep, Mardin). Our room was very spacious and clean. There was no real window, but this wasn’t a problem — it actually added to the charm. It felt like staying in a (luxurious) castle dungeon! You can tell that the owner puts great care into every detail of the property. He is also very kind and helpful to his guests, often taking the time to share thoughtful advice on what to see in and around town. His English was not perfect — and neither is ours, as we are not native speakers — but it was much better than in most other places we stayed. We could easily communicate without using translation apps. Due to a misunderstanding, we were accidentally charged twice for the room, but the owner resolved the issue very promptly and with great professionalism. We had breakfast — which was very nice — on the lower terrace. The view from there is partially blocked, but still quite pleasant. There are two more terraces with a broader view over the plains of Mesopotamia. The location is very convenient for those traveling by car. There is free parking near a church less than 100 meters from the hotel. The city center is also within walking distance — about 10 to 15 minutes. The walk includes quite a few steps and uphill narrow lanes, but we enjoy walking, so this was no issue for us. It might be challenging for people with reduced mobility, though. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We hope to return someday to enjoy it all over again — and to visit the places we didn’t have time to see.

Our one-night stay at this boutique hotel was unforgettable. The warm, attentive host made us feel instantly at home, always eager to please and quick to assist. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The enchanting terrace views were mesmerizing, especially at sunset and sunrise. These hotels stay with you long after you leave. Mardius Tarihi Konak is such a hotel. It is in a different league compared to any other hotel in the region. It is a gem. The standard of excellence in Mardius is set with nothing other than the owner's genuine desire to welcome you into their childhood home, and to host you like a guest would have been hosted in their home, some many years ago by their grandparents. This genuine desire is what sets Mardius apart from every other hotel we have ever stayed in. It is apparent in every aspect of the hotel, from the beautifully designed and appointed rooms, to the impeccable service provided by the ever attentive staff. Mardius is not just a hotel, it is an experience; utterly unique and authentic. Our room at Mardius was furnished with a locally made ornate wooden armoire, a writing desk, a sofa upholstered in a lush sateen and a King size comfortable bed. All lines, sheets and towels were from the Turkish luxury brand Haremlique. Outside on the terrace, we could lie on wooden beds with soft cushions, and watch the sun setting over the wide open plains of mesopotamia while sipping freshly brewed crimson turkish tea. Staff was always there, to assist us in whatever we needed in Mardin. Breakfasts were feasts; every item purchased directly from the local producers and served with bread baked on site fresh every morning. When you are there, definitely, ask to have dinner. It was, without doubt, the best food we have had in the region. Each and every dish was so delicious that writing about it now, my mouth waters. You must of course go to Mardin. But you must definitely go to Mardius. You will not want to leave it. And when you leave, you would want to go back.

Mardin is a great city with a rich history and full of amazing buildings in the traditional architecture. you can spend an hours to wondering in the labyrinth of small streets. have a coffee, lunch on the terrace overlooking the Mesopotamia plain, tasting wine.

The old town is quite charming.

The old town is quite charming. The highlight for us were the ancient churches so beautifully maintained/restored and that Arabs, Kurds and the very small Christian minority live together harmoniously. Everyone seemed so gracious and kind.

Fantastic and Beautiful very old and historic city on an hill fare east in Turkey, very old, more the 2000 years old. So a must for anyone with historic, cultural or achitectual interest, it just amazing and yet very much a lively city.

A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye...

A beautiful town, completely different from the Turkiye known by those who visit the coast. Kurdish, not Turkish, with Christian buildings going back to the fourth century and a culture that encompasses many religions and languages. A good base for a day trip (with guide) to Midyat and other local sites. Plenty of restaurants, serving wide variety of foods. Wine shops, selling local wines, but no bars in the old town. Really wish we had read more before going. Pictures show the beautiful pale-coloured buildings climbing up the hillside but not the fact that the 'roads' are more often steps. Wonderful small narrow streets, a copper bazaar where people were at work, incredible churches, mosques and madrasas - but you need to have good hips and knees! An excellent Hamam, open for men mornings and evenings, for women in the afternoons. For anyone interested in early Christianity, in cultural melting pots, or in somewhere unlike most tourist towns, Mardin and Midyat, and the necropolis at Dara, the area is exceptional. Allow about four days and bring sensible shoes. Good and cheap bus service from the airport, no need to use taxis.

Amazing hotel and staff. Great location - close to restaurants, markets and short walk from popular sites. Staff became more like friends, such amazing people - Ismail, Zeyn, Mohammad and Esra. Our room was beyond expectation, comfortable with every facility, clean, and well presented. View of Mardin and surrounding area from terrace was just amazing. Breakfasts were great, delicious breakfast every morning. 10/10 - Brilliant.

We've been traveling in Turkey for two weeks now and so far this was the best accommodation we stayed at. The staff was very nice (although not all of them spoke English). The courtyard is beautiful, the room has everything, wifi works well. The breakfast is beautifully served on the terrace overlooking the Mezopotamian plain.

The location was close enough to the old city of Mardin, yet, quiet enough to sleep well. The view from the hotel was really beautiful. The decorations of the hotel was really beautiful and well done. Staff was kind and friendly.
