We were hungry that night and asked her is there any vegetarian food delivery that time but unfortunately no restaurants offered the services on that time. Concerned, she offered us to toast the bread and personally sent the bread to our room. When we want to pay, she said the bread was on the house. Location - center of city and hot place. breakfast- great breakfast even its sleep time for us at 09am. i want to know the name of the bread which is chicken and white sauce:) our family was very satisfied with this stay. many compliments for me :) wine glass, mugs, cups and snacks are ready. I really enjoyed just escaping Tapei for a few days and...

I really enjoyed just escaping Tapei for a few days and basking in the nature, even if one day was just storms and rain. There was some vegan options at Old Street and at the hotel, and the view across the water was incredible. If you have any physical issues, keep in mind there are a lot of steep steps, hills and cobblestone pathways that may limit accessibility.

Tourist trap.

Tourist trap. Beautiful for photos (if you're ok with hundreds of people in the background) but everything else was bad -- soooo overcrowded. The food was bad (except for pineapple cakes) and everything was only open during the peak of the day - around 10-7, so forget about breakfast or a late dinner. If you insist on seeing it then I think a day trip would suffice, sadly staying the night was not at all beneficial because once the day tourists leave on their tour busses, the whole place shuts down with metal doors on all the shops in the street so doesn't even make for a good photo.

A tip to other guests: you can take a taxi from the train...

A tip to other guests: you can take a taxi from the train station directly to this hotel and cost 270NTB, instead of spending many minutes climbing the stairs and getting lost like I did. I didn't know earlier and wasted a lot of time. But on my way down the host called a taxi for me, saved me the pain of carrying a suitcase down. Remember to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, and bring a bath towel if you are used to the hotels in Taipei.

Jiufen, specifically the Old Street area, is no doubt a touristy area. My husband and I had a lot of fun trying the different food and snacks and walking through Old Street and seeing all the lanterns lit up. The morning mist added a little magic to the place. We opted to stay overnight so we can enjoy the village after the tour groups have left during the evening and before they arrived in the morning. Would recommend anyone to do the same. You get to see the charm of Old Street and the village when the crowds are gone. The view of the mountains and sea from the village was breathtaking. It was a great way to slow down after spending time in Taipei.

I went to visit the mining sights and its related history.

I went to visit the mining sights and its related history. I enjoyed the scenic views. As a photography enthusiast I took a lot of average photos as I am not a good photographer. But I like to take a lot photos. Old Jiufen Street was very busy with many tourists and a lot of things to buy and eat. I like walking through the neighborhoods to see how the locals live.

The location was very central to the town, it was a minute away from the 7-eleven near the bus stops. I just wanted to highlight that the terrace was just so amazing. The sunset from it was beautiful and there was no one there the all night, I spent my time there as the sunset turned into night and the stars came visible. I came on my birthday and it was just magical. I was lucky to see Jiufen both on a sunny day and a misty weather which gave it its magical feeling.

We had a wonderful stay in this quirky and unique hotel at the very top of Jiufen! The views were unparalleled and the owner was lovely and really made us feel right at home. Be prepared for some stairs getting up and down to the old street, but we loved exploring all the little alleys along the way. I really recommend staying here for such a cool experience!
