Fantastic city that you can experience centural Asian and Russian cultures. A melting pot of orthodox and Islam which represents the city identity. The urbanization after 1966 earthquake is shown in many places in the city with Soviet Architecture. It is amazing! Except it you can see big National Art gallery, huge Taschkent Conservatory and forum building next to Hotel Uzbekistan. The urbanization is still going on preparing for the international event in 2028. There are many bazaars in the city where you can buy national food with cheap price. Amazing city with a lot of thematics such as monuments, bazaar, food market, Mosques, parks, Plov Center, metro stations with art decoration. It has an Grand Dame feel to this refurbished hotel, with attention and efforts in many details. The breakfast is especially outstanding from an Asian perspective. I get a decent takeaway box at 4 and 5am on two mornings as I have to get ready for early day trips. There is a "Hall of Fame" showing the celebrities who have stayed in the hotel and you know it is really among the best in the city.
