We arrived after 9pm and the night guard who was running the reception was very on the ball. We drove up to the gate, he was expecting us, and opened the gate for our car immediately. He took us to our room, showed us the beds, and duvets that were neatly packed away in the cupboard, the bathroom, the heating, the TV, they had international sockets to recharge European cell phones, etc. Very comfortable beds. The night guard showed us where we could park. The shower in the bathroom was probably the best one we had staying in many places in SA, as the hot and cold water ran constantly and one did not have to adjust the water when the hot or cold cut out! So basically a good bathroom. A safe place to stay as you are in a kind of compound with a wall around the whole place. We were heading to the Mandela museums at Qunu and Umtata, so staying in Butterworth was the perfect place to overnight.
