Cottages in Rantepao

We had a great time at Villa Bait Lino, Lukas and his family are very nice people and invested to make you spend a good time. The place is beautiful, you sleep just in front of the rices fields and the mountains. I absolutely recommend this place to discover the toraja culture. Also i would recommand Marco as a guide to help you discover Toraja, he is a very nice person, commited to his work and he'll tell you everything you need to know about the toraja culture.

The host and all his family are super nice and hospitable people! It is a bit pleasure to stay in their house!

Great Experience Overall! The accommodation is very spacious and with a beautiful garden view. Best part is the owner Wila. He's very friendly and has a lot of knowledge from the surrounding area and is keen on giving insight into toraja culture and we spoke with him for a long time. He also has his little cafe in which he sells his own grown coffee and there's the possibility that he also shows you his plantation which is just behind the bungalows. He was very helpful in gathering information for us on when and where the death ceremonies would take place and provided many tips on customs, do's and don'ts so we could arrange everything ourselves with scooters. At one point he also offered us home-cooked food from his mother that lives nearby in one of the traditional houses. PS: For those interested he also offers guided tours where he joins you, he seemed very knowledgeable from the get-go so it's definitely a good option.

Location is absolutely stunning. We had a full traditional tonkonan all for ourselves. Very spacious and super clean and very well decorated. The surrounding garden is very well maintained. The view on the lumbung is something special. Breakfast was a delicious nasi goreng. Hot water and great water pressure in the very spacious and clean toilet. The real gem of this place is the super welcoming and helpful owners. They went above and beyond any expectations to help us. They pick us up from Rantepao at 6am, gave us breakfast while waiting for the room to be available. Helped us with an issue on our SIM card and they also gave us super precious information on how to explore Toraja their traditions, especially on the Rambu solo. Be aware that this is a rural area and reception can be very poor both on your phone and on the WiFi.

Definitely recommend ! James and Rian are very hospitality and caring, you will definitely feel like home. One of Must do list in Toraja will be catting with them, you can truly know new generation thoughts about their culture, quite inspiring ! And if you have any questions, they basically can give you resolutions and recommendations, so helpful ! BTW their English is high level, had good communication! Miss them already and their little cute son ❤️ The room is not luxury but very organic and clean !
