Her boatman, Peter, has a comfortable boat with shade shelter and a ladder to help get in and out during the trip. Finally, Amanda cares about the community of Bunaken. She has arranged and paid for vaccinations of the local dogs and organised medical treatment for her employees when needed.

Everyone and everything was great. There are two cottages located in a gorgeous garden setting. Lovely veranda to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and dramatic extinct volcano. The entire area is abundant in vegetation, both crops and forests. Everything seems to grow, probably because of the rich volcanic soil. Breakfast was included in the price but lunches and dinners were generous, inexpensive and carefully prepared by Marlyne, the wife of the host, Jan. We took an all day tour of the surrounding countryside, culminating in a swim in a small lake and sulfuric hot spa. Don’t forget to take in the amazing market in town. While some of it may look familiar to fellow travellers, other parts are unique to the region. Finally, if you’re lucky enough to be in town in early August, check to see if the flower festival and parade are on.

Liang Beach is a few steps from Panorama Cottage. This was one of my favorite stays in Indonesia. The view from the room was amazing, the staff were very friendly and the food was the best on my trip. The vibe of Bunaken is very relaxed and the snorkeling is amazing right in front of the Panorama Cottages. If you stay at Panorama Cottages you will eat with the guests from Panorama Backpackers, and there is a lot of great company. I tried snorkeling directly in front of the property and also joined a tour. Both are worth it. The fish and turtles on the reef are incredible, and the prices are excellent for the tours and equipment rental. I also appreciated the quality of the rental equipment because you never know what you will get when you rent.

The owner and the staff are absolutely wonderful, very friendly, caring, and always ready to help with anything you might need. They gave us great tips about activities around Bunaken and made sure our stay was smooth from start to finish. It really felt like being part of a family rather than just a guest at a resort. The restaurant is also a highlight. The food is delicious, freshly prepared, and you can really taste the love in every dish. We especially enjoyed trying the local meals, but even the simple dishes were cooked so well. Having good food after a day of snorkeling or diving made the whole experience even better. Overall, Villa Queen’s is a beautiful and welcoming place to stay in Bunaken. It combines comfort, warm hospitality, and great food with the perfect location for relaxation. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy Bunaken in a calm, cozy, and unforgettable way.
