You cannot drive up to the house because the last road is too steep so he showed us where to park near the base and then drove us up in his bigger car. (He kindly did this again in the morning when we left, even though we had to leave very early!) Second, the view is incredible! It was a stunning way to start the day. Our only regret is we wish we'd stayed longer :)

I’m not even sure where to begin — our stay in Ikuno was truly unforgettable. Our host, Rehan (a fellow South African living in Ikuno), went above and beyond for us. He offered to fetch us in Kobe walked us around the city, drove us all the way to Ikuno and even organised the most incredible meal for us at the local izakaya. His kindness set the tone for the whole stay. The accommodation itself was breathtaking - a beautifully renovated traditional company house that felt both historic and homely. Spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. One of my favourite moments was waking up to the sound of rain and looking out at the trees on the mountain. Pure magic. I would recommend this stay in a heartbeat. The accommodation is remarkable, the town is enchanting, and Rehan’s generosity, passion, and knowledge made the experience feel genuinely special. This was my favourite part of my entire trip in Japan and moments I will never forget. Thank you Rehan, cannot wait to visit again!
