We planned to stay here after watching the sunset at Jōgakura Bridge during the fall foliage season. The host asked us to select our check-in time in advance through messaging, but we arrived earlier than expected, so we contacted the host. They were available and kindly let us check in right away. The house is beautiful and wonderfully antique. The host showed us the old house, let us try on kimono, and even brought us mochi to enjoy. The property is very spacious, with a kitchen, a huge sofa, and comfortable beds with chargers next to each one. Everything was clean. Amenities are complete, including soap, shampoo, and toothbrushes. There is a FamilyMart right across the street. The entrance gate is quite narrow, so you need to drive carefully.

If you have a car, there is free parking about 5 minutes walk away from the property. It's a 25 minute or so drive to Matsushima Bay, which is well worth a visit (go to Oshima Island, it's magical) and an hour and a bit to Risshaku-Ji which is otherworldly. We only had time to do that, but there's plenty more you could do, and if you're visiting Sendai, give yourself more than the 2 full days we gave ourselves.
