The Urban Lodge is one of the best place I stayed in (and I travel a lot)! The staff and the owner are absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. I had a minor issue in my room and they fixed it right away. The rooms are simple but elegant. The bed is comfortable, the AC is really helping with the heat of Bujumbura, the shower is working well with hot water and good water pressure. You have a mosquito net in the room, but also on the door (so you're double protected and you can leave the door open at night if you don't like the AC). The breakfast is simple, but tasty and everything is very fresh. The rooms are spotless. You are within walking distance from many good restaurants, but you can also easily find a taxi in the street nearby. I have even recommended this place to colleagues coming to Bujumbura and they also loved it.

Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika is located in a wide park that ends up on a marvelous beach on the banks of the Lake Tanganyika. AMAZING food! We had the fish, fresh from the lake, avocado salad, and pasta cooked perfectly al dente. The location, not far from the airport and right on the lake with stunning sunrises. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us organise a day trip to see the Gishora drummers.
