We loved our stay at Cathedral Lodge. Exceptional location, right on the grounds of the famous Canterbury Cathedral, with parking right outside the lodge (must be reserved). Great breakfast with lots of choice, just perfect. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, all well thought out. We had a fantastic view of the cathedral. Entry to the cathedral is free for guests of the lodge. The location is a perfect base for exploring Canterbury.

Each 10to12 guest room has an en-suite bathroom, flat-screen TV with DVD player, and tea/coffee making facilities. I did not think the room would be so lovely, opulent, and spotless. The hotel staff treated me like family, and as a traveler who is far from home, their thoughtful actions warmed my heart.

The breakfast each morning was amazing, and Peter went out of his way to make sure there were plenty of kid friendly options for our girls. Staying here exceeded every expectation I had! The room was beautiful and there was PLENTY of space and beds for our family of 4. The location is also so great! It was a VERY short walk from the main part of town, and we really enjoyed the short walk each day. Our kids (6 and 8) could easily make the walk all around without complaining.

With views across the Alkham Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis of Granby was transformed in 2008 to combine timeless rural England with boutique-style luxury. It is 'Highly Commended' by the AA. Everything was so wonderful it was the best stay during our trip in England. The breakfast and dinner both exceptional. The bed is lovely and room decor as well. Well functioning air conditioner. Super easy parking and plenty of spaces. Definitely recommend booking the dinner as well. Beautiful location and view. We will be staying here again.
