Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. Excellent location, comfortable rooms, outstanding staff!!!! Breakfast is wonderful, and the public baths were great. Lovely touches like sake tasting and yukata assistance were much apprciated.

Located just a 1-minute walk from popular Miyagawa Morning Market in the heart of Takayama, Sumiyoshi Ryokan offers homely Japanese-style accommodation in the historic townhouse building. We had a beautiful room looking out over the river and gardens. Our room had a private toilet and wash basin, with access to the public/shared onsen/bath. The hosts were very amenable and friendly. Highly recommend if you want a traditional experience of Japanese hospitality.

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were attentive and very helpful despite language barrier. We really enjoyed the Japanese experience at Ryokan Tanabe particularly kaiseki cuisine. Most importantly, the location was superb!

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Right when we walked in we knew we had exactly what we wanted with a very traditional Japanese experience. The lady who runs the place is very lovely and offers self serve coffee upon arrival and departure. Our room was very comfortable and plesant and the location is very close to all amenities.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. Great onsen facilities included and also with 3 private onsen rooms possible to use for 30 mins per each group. They also provide a complimentary delicious ramen late at night between 21:30-22:30. We had an amazing and relaxing trip at Takayama!
