The staff were very friendly, helpful, and patient with language barriers. I had accidentally made a double reservation, and they helped me resolve that easily. It was superbly clean. I didn't even think to use my sandals in the room, and normally I'm a little particular about that in hotels. Good use of space in the rooms. The breakfast was great. Simple, with all the expected options but fresh, well-prepared, and well-maintained. There was no exercise room, but it wasn't really needed because you can exercise along the beach. It was hard to judge the location because lots of things were closed for the holiday weekend, but it looks like there are normally a lot of shops and restaurants around. There was a grocery store and a few places to eat open when we were there. II also love that the rooms had a US-style outlet available.

After trying several hotels in Rio de Janeiro, we can confidently say that Hotel Matiz has become our favorite. What truly made our experience special was the people who work there. From the restaurant staff to housekeeping and reception, everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. Every detail is thoughtfully taken care of to ensure an exceptional stay. We loved using the free bicycles to explore the city, the well-equipped gym, and of course, the delicious and varied breakfast. The location is simply perfect, making it easy to visit the main attractions. We highly recommend Hotel Matiz and look forward to returning soon. Thank you for making our stay in Rio unforgettable!
