What a find. Ignore the bad reviews, this is a lovely hotel, new, clean, modern, great rooms, shower etc, and lovely staff. The breakfast was very nice also. NOTE: if you have a car, easier to pay the ten Euros to reception and use the car park across the road. Otherwise you have to drive around looking for a free space on the street (there were none when I was there).

Located opposite Mainz Central Station, Hotel Königshof offers a 24-hour reception and soundproofed rooms with free Wi-Fi. Buses, trams and S-Bahn trains are right outside.

I have stayed at Hotel Königshof many times. It has old decor but it really clean and all the staff with the exception of one were wonderful, helpful, friendly and efficient. I am used to the small lift so that did not bother me at all (but I did not have many suitcases or a pram etc to take upstairs). I was given a single room on the 4th floor with only one step to climb after gettin gout of the lift. It was facing the courtyard (no pretty picture) but very quiet and I could sleep with my window open. The breakfast was good (same every day) except for sweet buns, or confectionary. The location is excellent and the train station is very clean and no drug addicts hanging around. Amazing how Mainz does this as other cities do not manage this. Lots of places in the station for buying meals, fruit, etc. (I especially liked the Tai place). As well as shopping places and a chemist. The hotel is on a little shady square with restaurants and tables outside. I sat there twice enjoying a meal at the place across the road. All in all it was a really good stay of 5 nights.

Bas at reception and your colleague from El Salvador at the breakfast buffet stood out with their friendliness and customer service. Loved the chia apple pudding at breakfast and that it was not too crowded at the breakfast buffet. The toiletries and hair dryer were great, especially for business travellers with long hair, a good hair dryer and hair conditioner make a huge difference in comfort.
