Absolutely beautiful ryokan with stunning views of the river. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean, simple, and comfortable, and our private onsen was a highlight! The multi-course dinner and breakfast service were absolutely fantastic as well. We took advantage of the free shuttle service to and from Minakami Station, which was also easy to navigate. This was the perfect quiet and relaxing escape during our honeymoon!

Good plan for sleep and social. House was spacious and clean, games to play and good area for eating and relaxing. Excellent utilities and a big plus for having dishing service in a private rent. Good area to dry ski equipment and clothes.

The location is around the corner from a great little open air onsen which has a fantastic view of the river, mountains, and stunning autumn foliage. Breakfast was provided, with barista coffee and delicious freshly baked pastries, plus there was a coffee station that guests could use at their leisure. The option to use the lodge's e-bikes free of charge was a great touch, especially considering it's on top of a hill, and about a 30 minute walk into town. The staff were friendly and welcoming, with a special shout out to the owner Craig who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and easy. We will be recommending the lodge to anyone looking for a getaway to "real Japan", to see the amazing local landscapes and sample some of the best of the best local onsen. While my partner and I were travelling as a couple, it is obvious that this accommodation would also be perfect for single backpackers/hikers/skiers, as well as larger groups. All in all, a great stay, which we would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future.

Had a very comfortable stay in this truly stunning area. Especially thanks to the amazingly friendly and helpful owner of the establishment, who gave great advice and went the extra mile to make my stay very memorable. And very delicious! Very homely vibes as well.
Even though it is a very remote place, it is still very good accessible by public transport (10-15 minutes walk from Doai station, which is an attraction on its own). Just make sure to check the timetable of the trains (they run only 5 or 6 times a day or so).
But the ambiance, service and the environment made this one of my most memorable stays of my vacation. Honne!

Such a lovely and more traditional experience, the food, the people, sleeping on futon, using the kotatsu and the onsen was so nice. Absolutely loved the stay here. I'm not a big seafood person but I still really enjoyed all of the meals, there was always plenty of delicious things to eat even if there were one or two I was being picky about.

It was so peaceful and relaxed. Tami is a true artist and has created an amazing workspace and I am so glad that I chose here rather than staying in a conventional hotel and hiding away in my room …there was always someone to chat to downstairs or I could escape and study upstairs. I met so many wonderful people and Tami San was exceptional. She cooked me nabe on my last night there.
