Stay Golden has been one of our favourite stays of our entire time in Sri Lanka. Beautiful bungalows/apartments, the sweetest staff (our kids still miss them) and delicous and healthy food available from 8 AM until 9 PM. What we really liked was that there were always several families staying here and that the owners was also pretty much always around with their family, it created a nice and homely vibe in which we felt very welcome. Big thanks to Rihan and Angie and we hope to visit again some day!

If you go to the main street, you can sometimes see the 'local' elephant in the marsh nearby. The place is clean, has AC and everything you need, even a hammock to chill in. Basheer is always there to help you with pretty much everything you need. The breakfast is very good and the cappuccino, one of the best in Sri Lanka. I totally recommend Aqua Blue!

Its just an amazing place, amazing nature surroundings, amazing food, amazing staff. And surf spot right in front, almost like private spot. So basically just amazing

In addition, each room has a large outdoor bathroom with 2 showers. We felt like home, everything is made for you to feel good, the pool is amazing, bungalows are super comfy, restaurant is really good (even the European food but also the local food not to spicy l, you can ask on demand), owners really helpful, friendly, here for you and the staff is joyful and super friendly to ! Many thanks to the owners, the staff and Joy for their hospitality. If we have the chance to come back, we’ll return for sure

I am incredibly impressed with the outstanding customer service at this establishment. While traveling for work, I had to take public transport and required a very late check-in at 4 AM. Many other places either refused me or tried to charge for two full days, even though I was only staying for a few hours. In a last-minute decision right before boarding my bus, I booked this hotel and explained my situation. To my relief, they immediately agreed to my request without any hesitation or additional fees. When I arrived in the early hours of the morning, everything was perfectly prepared for me. The place itself is lovely, with a unique touch: each room has its own private outdoor seating area complete with a sofa, table, and even a ceiling fan. On top of all that, the location is fantastic, right in the heart of town, making everything easily accessible by foot. I can't recommend this place enough, especially for their wonderful hospitality!

Our room was spacious, fresh, and very clean, with a nice and well-maintained bathroom. If I ever visit Arugam Bay again, I would definitely stay here again — out of all the hotels in this price range, this one is the best! The hotel is run by a very polite and kind family who made us feel welcome. The location was excellent — on the main road, within walking distance to cafes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and just a 10-minute tuk-tuk ride to the beach, but you can also walk to it (20 minutes) It was quiet at night, and we had a very peaceful stay. There’s also a lake next to the hotel, where elephants sometimes come to drink — a beautiful sight to witness. All guest rooms are located on the second floor. They also plan to open a restaurant soon on the ground floor.

The place has a fresh, stylish design and was incredibly comfortable – perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. Everything felt clean, modern, and thoughtfully put together. The host was absolutely fantastic – so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. He went above and beyond to organize a special trip for us where we saw wild crocodiles and elephants in their natural habitat. It was an unforgettable experience and truly a once-in-a-lifetime memory! If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay with great hospitality and a touch of adventure, this is it. We can’t recommend it enough!

It’s right on the beach and was the perfect mix of beach goodness, with good aircon and friendly staff.
