It was a real privilege to be able to spend two nights at this fantastic location. Our hut was very comfortable and the nearby shared kitchen and bathroom hut was well equipped. Our host Alana was very welcoming and provided lots of useful information. We spent a lovely day at the station doing the nearby suggested walks and were lucky enough to watch the early morning clouds lift and get a view later on of Mount Cook. The clear skies on our second night afforded us a great view of the Milky Way. By the way, the gravel road up to the station is by no means difficult to negotiate and the end result is most definitely worth it.

The bed was very comfy, the linens just right for a cool night. I could see the stars looking out the window and woke up to an impressive sunrise over the hills. A very special place tucked away in a quiet valley.

Featuring a private entrance, this air-conditioned mobile home is comprised of 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom with a hairdryer. Our stay at Mackenzie pass retreat was amazing. wWe always wanted to do a tiny home stay and this was just perfect. Beautiful location, easy to find , well maintained and close to other places like Lake Tekapo. We will definitely revisit sometime again.
