Taking your shoes off at entree, sliding doors, gymnasium, kitchen. Amazing. Even more amazing was the staff. The explained every thing well, gave recommendations for food and travel. I even got lucky and hitched a ride back to Nakatsugawa, with a perfect pitstop at Hillbilly Coffee (highly recommend). I stayed here after walking Nakasendo Trail from Tsumago. Perfect place to stay after. Do not hesitate. Go here. Book!

The place was also in walking distance to both the bus station, old part of town and to a shopping mall with a proper supermarket. If you dont want to walk, there is a 7/11 right next door, or there is the possibility to buy food and coffee at the place. If I come back to Takayama I would choose to stay here again

Atsushi was so nice and welcoming, speaking great English, and he drove me to Magome - the beginning of the trail. The house is a beautiful traditional house, very minimalistic and pleasant. Everything was so beautiful and comfortable! One thing you need to mind though - the village is very small, and there's nothing to do in the evening. Even finding open restaurants for dinner after 7pm is quite impossible
