GermanyOpened in 1971, the resort is located in a pine forest directly on the shores of the 20-square-kilometer Lacanau lake. The resort made an age-appropriate, well-kept and clean impression. The resort is suitable for wheelchairs. I had a 24-square-metre apartment on the ground floor of a kind of two-storey terraced house next to the resort's parking lot. The resort, which is car-free from the parking lot onwards, is not very small. From there, it was 500 meters to the resort's own and mostly empty sandy beach. It was a 300 m walk to the center of the resort, where a good breakfast was served in a hall. Other apartments are closer to the beach and the center. Presumably the resort is also used for conferences, otherwise I can't explain the full breakfast room at 7:30 am on the second day. A range of water sports activities are available and the resort even has a small harbor. Cycling is really good in the area. Lacanau has some good restaurants and a fairly large supermarket about 2.5 kilometers from the resort. The bus connections to Bordeaux and the St. Jean train station are surprisingly good and inexpensive. It is 1.5 kilometers from the bus stop at the town hall and the village church to the resort. My apartment had a bedroom, an adjoining bathroom with shower but no toilet, a hallway with toilet and a well-equipped kitchen. It was quite spacious by French standards. I swept through before I finished my stay.
