The host, Toki, was absolutely wonderful. She speaks very little English but we had long conversations with the help of google translate. She is 75 and her family has been living in Iwamura for 23 generations.

Wonderful place to stay. Unfortunately I stayed only for 3 nights. I wish I could stay longer. House is very spacious and very clean. Also very warm for cold nights. It’s a perfect place for long walks and great for someone who need a break from cities. Not that far from train station or big supermarket (half an hour walk). Thank you 😊 and I hope see you next year!

This stay was just amazing. Our host was so kind and the meals he had prepared were delicious. The products were fresh and you couldn’t make them more local : the mushrooms we had in our soup were taken directly from his garden. Moreover, the room were really cozy and comfy as well the sauna. I really recommend it if you want to see the Japanese countryside and enjoy a relaxing stay

The guesthouse gives a homely feeling, and we were warmly welcomed by the owner even if we arrived a bit late. It was the perfect stay as a base for the nakasendo trail. The house is completely renovated but you can feel how it was 110 years back when it was built. It has all the amenities you might need, and the spaces are huge! Great relaxing garden in the back :)

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.

A peaceful, clean, and beautiful accommodation with kind and helpful staff. Magome Chaya is located in an idyllic environment and we received lots of help with navigation and relevant information for our hikes. We also ate two of the most wonderful dinners here and slept like babies on our futons. The pillows were especially lovely! What a wonderful stay!

The rooms are spacious and clean and quiet, it's only 5' walk from the train station, and the kitchen has everything one needs plus washing machines. It's really a good find. (and the bedsheets are sooo soft ;-))
