Loved my stay here and cannot recommend it enough! The building itself is an experience to stay in; very nostalgic and cozy. Bunk beds were comfy and clean. As others have mentioned, remember to bring your own groceries as the food in Magome town is quite limited. Make sure to check out the gymnasium!

Our host, Assi, was waiting for us at the property and was very accommodating. Speaking very good English and showing us all the facilities of this very beautifully restored traditional Japanese house. The house is made very comfortable with excellent home-style kitchen and living room, both supplied with high quality vinyl and CD sound systems. He suggested an excellent restaurant run by a man and his wife that was equally homely and with very good food. There is also a very cool vinyl cafe close-by that would not be out of place in Brooklyn New York. We were very nicely surprised by our stay at Guesthouse SHIGI and would recommend anyone detours a few minutes from the Nakasendo Trail to experience something truly special.

We loved everything. The place is so beautiful and located on the Nakasendo. The little neighbourhood is very cute. The garden was a magic touch. The beds were very comfortable. Although breakfast at the cafe was delicious. We loved our stay. My daughter said that it was her dream house.

The husband/wife running the hotel were wonderful. They were both super helpful and friendly, which made for a really pleasant experience.

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor.

Beautiful traditional style Japanese rooms and the whole building was gorgeous. Great location, friendly staff. Delicious dinner and breakfast, so glad we opted for the meal plan at Magome Chaya- was worth it.

A very pleasant place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The owner is incredibly kind and helpful. The building is well-equipped with kitchen appliances and a drinking water filter. Everything was great!

This stay was just amazing. Our host was so kind and the meals he had prepared were delicious. The products were fresh and you couldn’t make them more local : the mushrooms we had in our soup were taken directly from his garden. Moreover, the room were really cozy and comfy as well the sauna. I really recommend it if you want to see the Japanese countryside and enjoy a relaxing stay
