Almaty being quite a large city, I was pleasantly surprise to realise the accomodation was a stonethrow from a main artery where buses abound. You are only 20-25 min by bus from Sayran bus station. It is also well lit on the main avenue so it is quite safe at night. The staff was very nice and helpful. They have some English. The hotel presents itself a bit like a motel, with exterior staircase and landings. My room was a large double festuring a desk and chair, a microwave, a mini fridge. The bathroom was compact and clean. The hotel has been recently renovated and my room was very modern. You can leave your laundry at reception to wash and dry for a fee. A choice of restaurants nearby on Tole Bi street and a cheap and cheerful canteen up the street on the right for lunch make the location really handy.Also a supermarket on Tole Bi about 10 min away. Rooms have air con.

The hotel is managed by Vladimir and his son Alexander. Everything was amazing, and the room was super spacious, with a private bathroom. We stayed for 3 nights and will always remember the wonderful breakfasts that Vladimir prepared for us with so much care, especially the conversations every morning, with him using his phone to translate. He was very helpful, offering recommendations for everything, and we also left our luggage with no issues. Almaty seemed like a beautiful city and a great starting point for exploring the area… close to Kyrgyzstan and China. One day, we’ll definitely return, even if it’s just to chat with Vladimir, Alexander, and their cat.

Travelling from Canada, not a first timer in Kazakhstan, I will come back to this house with more people! The staff was the sweetest, and very hospitable. The house is charming and warmly decorated, it has many floors and stiff stairs and the view from up there is gorgeous. The rooms luxury and double I stayed in are spacious bright and clean, the confort is satisfying, it’s in a quiet area and close to nature, the garden is very pleasing. The breakfasts are copious and will keep you energised for the day to go discover the region. This is the perfect address to come back to, after a long day tracking with horses in the mountains.

#Booking Akbulak If I have chance come back to Almaty again, I will come back to Akbulak hotel, many reasons bring me back, but the view to the mountain is the first reason I work online and travel when I have gap from my work, but stay here, I can move my desk in front of the window and the view of snow mountain outside the window, which makes me feel like working in the nature, anytime you feel tired from your work, you look out the window, you will be refilled with energy again by the view. And the location is good for me, I am not in a hurry, and I can stay away from downtown and live like a local in this community, with people chill out after sunset, with neighbor walking around, with yard to have a cup of coffee, that is life, to feel , and to immerse yourself in it. Last but not least, I really touched by people here, they smile to you, they help you even with language barrier. Especially the gentlemen and the lady of Akbulak, they answer all the message I sent by booking, and give very detail instructions before I arrive, they are easy to work with , to talk with,
