We found this cozy and affordable accommodation by chance. Horgen is about 25 mins train from Zurich HB and 30 mins from Zurich airport It is a small town by Lake Zurich. The apartment is within walking distance from the train station and swimming facility. Excellent place to unwind and reboot.. Cost is a fraction of that in Zurich. We bought a rail pass that gives us unlimited rides in train, ferry, and bus in the whole zurich canton. This makes horgen an even better choice to stay. Although Chez Esther is a homestay, there is complete privacy as Esther is usually in her own room. Our own 26 sq m room has a desk, lounge area, TV, and many books. We have a dedicated toilet just outside our room solely for our use. We can use the oven and refrigerator. We can take our meals in one of two lovely terraces.

This was our 19th new staying place, and was by far the best. The woman who owns the place was really nice and cooperative, responded fast, and gave us a warm welcome upon arrival (finding us bottled water, offering coffee/tea and fruit). She was also very flexible with check-in times, as we changed our time of arrival 3 times due to train complications. Since we were a young couple, she had put on cute heart bedsheets for us to sleep in. She helped us with what to see and such. The room itself was really comfy to sleep in, with a nice large bed, great sheets and a good sized room. For this price you will not find anything close to this place. It is an amazing deal, and only 2 minutes of walking from the tram stop. Thanks for an amazing stay:) 10/10 for room 11/10 for staff

I’ll admit I was a little skeptical about the high rating at first, but after my stay I completely understand it. I had such a wonderful experience here. Normally I avoid shared-bathroom places and stick to hotels for the privacy, but this was different. Erik was easygoing, accommodating, and genuinely a delight to interact with - even as an introvert who usually prefers to be left alone, I appreciated his warm approach. The room itself was clean and spacious, and the apartment overall felt very comfortable. I never had to wait for the bathroom, and everything I needed for my stay was provided. The location is perfect - you can walk to the old town or just hop on a train at Enge station and be anywhere in minutes. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Zurich.

There is fully equipped kitchen. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. There is free parking available down the road.
