First of all, it’s stunning. The building, decorations, and surrounding areas were beautiful and staying in this small hotel made our visit in Fenghuang feel more significant and of value. This is not an outdated hotel, each part of our room felt brand new though kept in a remarkably preserved old building. The owner and staff are phenomenal! They’re very kind, enjoyable, and pleasant people. When we asked if they could help us warm up some leftovers we had brought, they also prepared us additional dishes to go with it. Throughout our stay the food was exceptional, always authentic Chinese food, and made from scratch by them. Just during our 2 night stay we feasted on dumplings, pastries, noodles, goose, chicken, fresh fruit, and a few other things. After checking out, our host helped us get to where our driver would meet us and stayed with us ensuring our safety. They even provided us with thoughtful gifts upon checking out. Through their behavior towards us and what they’ve created with their hotel, they shared the best of their culture and of humanity, which was what we hoped to encounter.

The owner, Jenny was so friendly and she will be guiding you the walking route from the hotel to the cable car station.

The Host Lady was really so nice. We got in near midnight and a driver was organised to pick us up, for free. Watch-out, he was waiting outside the airport, not at the arrivals doorway. The location feels remote, but it makes the view absolutely stunning and adds to the quiet peace. The Host Lady is well-practised at using a translation app, so I don't think communication is a problem. Breakfast is served in the 'restaurant' which is a separate guesthouse-type area down some stairs outside. The breakfast every morning is roughly the same. There is a fried egg, a fruit (melon one day, or orange the next), a vegetable (a corn one day, or a sweet potato the next day) a bread-type bun, and a bao-bun. AND ALSO a bowl of noodle soup with mince. It can be a lot. Our final breakfast also had rice porridge on top of all that. If you need help planning your day, the Host Lady is happy to help. She is always available on WeChat. If you book the southern entrance of the Zhangjiajie Forrest Park, she can drive you to the entrance (and pick-up) as it's only a few minutes' drive away. If you need a driver for the day for further away, they will book you a driver (you pay them directly via Weixin). We had a driver for the whole day to go to the Canyon Bridge. Our first full day, the Host Lady had a fresh home-made dinner made for us in their restaurant. It was 210 RMB, but it was very nice.

The staff are so friendly and helpful. I've never had such an experience even though i regularly travel. The owner kindly showed me the routes in the park. When i had questions, she answered me on wechat. I'd strongly recommend to stay here

An absolute incredible stay! We loved our stay at Heaven's Gate Homestay, the owner and his family were especially nice, he helped us book tickets for the National Park, gave us recommendations on which routes to take and overall made our life much easier when we were in Zhangjiajie. The room was also spotless, big and very modern. The location is only 5min away from the town. Pefect stay and would definetly come back.
