Boasting a garden and views of garden, Moffat Independent Hostel is a guest house set in a historic building in Moffat, 34 km from Dumfries and County Golf Club. I know it's advertised as a hostel but it's top class here. Looks more like a posh hotel. We had Room 8, top of the stairs, a long way up if you aren't too mobile. We advise only taking up what you need and leave the suitcases in the car. Lovely size room, good water pressure and hot water in the ensuite shower. No kettle so that means you must go downstairs for hot water to make a cuppa. Kitchen has several fridges, an oven and several cooktops, microwaves, plenty of cooking gear and china. Lovely dining room. Then there's the lounge, just so comfortable as shown in the photo's. Everything here is five star.

The host was incredibly gracious and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The breakfast was delectable, and the service was exceptional.
