The highlight of this place? Their onsen. The vibe—it was quite therapeutic and peaceful. I wish we had more time to enjoy the onsen.

The hostel is located right next to the train station, so it's very convenient to get around from there. The hostel itself is basic and good and has everything you need to spend your time in Nikko. The staff was so kind and made sure the hostel had a good atmosphere that I was sorry I couldn't stay longer. From making snack bowls for everyone to taking us to the onsen, it was just so pleasant. Thank you for the great experience. I'll be back

I only stayed for one night to be close to Nokogiri Mt. for hiking, but Ken-ken was extremely helpful and generous while I was there. One of my favorite memories from my two week trip to Japan will be my stay in this little town of Hota, much thanks to Ken-ken's hospitality and guidance for places to visit and eat at while I stayed. He recommended the cutest izakaya when I told him I was looking for dinner and a few beers called Rest Inn Wassup! The owner and cook there were so nice, and we had a good time visiting even though we were mostly speaking through Google Translate. Please don't be afraid to visit this little town if you want to see some authentic Japanese small-town life and great hiking. I was able to get around fairly easily, but be aware the public transportation is limited and it can get dark in the neighborhood at night. Rest assured, though, if you stay with Ken-ken, he will make your stay comfortable and worthwhile!

BUNA KUSATSU Onsen Inn se nachází v destinaci Kusacu. Opičí park Džigokudani je 47 km daleko a Mt. Kusatsu Shirane 15 km. The room was bright and clean, and the private onsen was amazing. There is a kitchen and a shared space where you can experience a traditional Japanese kotatsu. Everything was great except that the property is located on a hill, so you have to climb to reach nearby places. The road was very slippery on snowy days, and we almost slipped several times. I would not recommend this place for travelers with elderly people or young children.

Cozy Inn is an excelent place to stay while touring Nikko and its surroundings. The room is clean, with Air conditioner, an ideal place to rest after a long day walking the temples in Nikko. Hiro is a fantastic host and deserves all the praises received in the other comments. If I ever come back to Nikko, I’m staying here. No doubt.
