The host and staff are very nice and thoughtful. I was amazed by the interior design, and selection of refreshments/drinks/books here, everything is crafted in details and I can feel their efforts and seriousness. It’s truly impressive to be staying in a historical building and surrounded by wood, while enjoying the neat environment and modern design of shared bathroom. This’s also a good location for people who want to slow down and prefer less busy areas. Walkable distance to tram and JR stations, and the nearby area of Shirakawa River’s definitely nice for a walk. And don’t forget to order fine sake by 9pm if you’d like to taste more!

みーまん奄美 ligt in Amami, op 9 minuten lopen van Strand van Higashi, en biedt accommodatie met een gedeelde lounge, gratis privéparkeren en een bar. The property itself was amazing! There is a lovely common space where you can cook and hang out! The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

Shioya Hostel bevindt zich in Akune, op 24 km van Sendai-kō, en biedt accommodatie met gratis fietsen, gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde lounge. I have been on the road in Japan for 7 weeks, this is the best place I have stayed. Rooms, kitchen, toilets, showers all immaculate. Real mattresses! The couple who run it are nice, friendly and informative. I also love the little town of Akune. Try the restaurant by the fishing port. Taketa Ekimae Hostel cue heeft een tuin, een gedeelde lounge, een terras en een bar in Taketa. De accommodatie bevindt zich op 46 km van Oita Bank Dome, 45 km van station Oita en 48 km van Aso... Gorgeous historic building with a modern Japanese style, our private room was absolutely perfect. It was spacious, large bed was so comfortable, quiet and such a lovely space to relax in. The common areas were lovely, clean and beautifully decorated. Great location in the town centre and so close to the train station and parking. The staff and owners are truly what makes this stay a 10/10! The warmest greetings, kind and friendly local tips and knowledge. Special thanks to staff for such a wonderful experience staying in Taketa. Special mention to Shun for his amazing hospitality and our new friend Takumi for sharing his cooking tips with us.

Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel is gunstig gelegen in de wijk Yufuin Onsen in Yufu, en ligt op 49 km van Oita Bank Dome, 2 km van Kinrinko Meer en 27 km van station Beppu. Absolutely love this place and people!! Ryo and Tomo are top notch host with attention to details, professionalism and with full of positive energy. Place is impeccably clean, cozy and warm with super cool onsen. I've had two wonderful meals and enjoyed every bite of it. Also have enjoyed the after dinner 2000 hr walking under the star lights. I really liked the couple that run the place. They keep it so clean and the community room is very user-friendly. It was comfortable as a solo female traveler. It’s a great location, easy to walk to the airport, grocery store, and restaurants. I would definitely stay again.
