I wouldn’t usually book and stay at a hostel but wanted to stay where my son’s sports team was and I was pleasantly surprised at everything. My ensuite room was just perfect for what I needed this weekend.

The 19th-century The Cambridge Hotel & Backpackers offers accommodation in the heart of Wellington’s city centre, just 3 minutes’ walk from the Courtenay Place entertainment district. It features a bar and restaurant. Free WiFi is available. Favorite was the giant kitchen and dining area, great amount of space and clean. Tons of rooms but tons of bathrooms in a long hallway. Beds were good, a bit squeaky but comfortable. Old style building was cool.

There is a lounge and TV room, a courtyard with BBQ facilities, and a fully equipped communal kitchen. Super friendly and welcoming staff and clean, comfortable room in a great location. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
